Drivers seat - side scuffing badly

I've had my car for 8 months and the seats are in very good condition. (nappa leather)

UPDATE: Last Friday, some 77 days after the warranty claim was made the Service Dept called me to advise the side bolster material was in with spare parts. Been advised they need it for half a day.....assume they're going to pull the seat out and take it to an auto trimmers.

Should be interesting. I'll be taking lots of before and after photos and if the stitching isn't identical they'll be replacing the whole seat. Maybe they can look at the "sub" woofers whilst they have the seat out? And I'm going to ask if I an keep the "leather" or at least feel the quality.....

Will keep you posted - won't be for a few weeks though.

The trouble is as you go in and out you are rubbing against the bolster causing wear. You may have to adjust your entry exit style ! Still it would be a warranty. I’m thinking the seats can be either A; be treated with some kind of surface protection or B replaced or C, get upholsterer to redoing a tougher leather. Will be hard to colour match if C.
Also try pushing seat back before exit and entry to avoid so much contact with bolster.
Just some ideas that may help.

It's impossible to get in and out of a car without rubbing the seat somewhere. I can't put the seat any further back and I get in and out without thinking about it so adjusting my "style" is not an option.

I had a TRD Aurion with decent bolsters (and no fancy auto retract system) and after 11 years the leather was near new.

No it’s wearing while you have got it on. Please confirm belt touching the spot when it car.
Nope, not the belt, neither whilst wearing or off. It's my backside hitting the bolster which is not coping....

Use a different method of getting in and out of the car ,Stingray corvettes have the same problem with some folks ,what I do is set down and swivel into position .

Via the tailgate? Sunroof? Nope, KIA needs to provide a seat that's fit for purpose - end of story.

You can have the seat go all the way back when opening the car door lock. If you do that, it should minimize the scuffing. I had the same problem with my BMW. I bet KIA has a polish to restore such scuffs.

You mean the seat settings on the display? It's set as far back as it will go unless there's something I'm missing? Irrespective the seat bolster has worn really badly after less than 3 months and i'm not wearing a toolbelt or unlike Trumpians I'm not wearing a holster either. I hope its a one-off.

Would be pretty damn impressive polish, have you seen the photos? They've said the "bolster material" is in spare parts. Let's see.

Check to see if that's where the seat belt rubs - I have an older Audi S5 with similar aggressive side bolsters and I have the same wear on the seats as to where the stitching is finally coming apart - of course the car is almost 10 years old now

Was thinking more likely when releasing the seatbelt before exiting the vehicle, the belt or buckle might be chaffing the same spot as it retracts back and against the B pillar. Just a thought with regards to this mystery
I am thinking along the line as @Robs here. I would assume it's the seat belt buckle 'scratching' it.

Maybe just duct tape it?:laugh:

This discussion appears to be going around in circles. If you go back we have had discussion about Madman’s plight and it does appear he has a bad batch of material. We have investigated all the possible cause and he has replied. I think Madman was just updating this thread as a courtesy in case an one else had the same issues. Go back and read previous pages and you will get the gist. If you have any more to ad then go ahead and we wish Madman all the best for his warranty work, he has waited a long time to get it fixed.

Hello Stinger Owners & Enthusiasts!

Several years ago I was walking through a parking lot, and walked past an automobile that caught my eye. I looked inside and noticed it had a sports team t-shirt over the front seats. It looked really cool, and I liked the idea of showing support for your team. After reading about a drivers seat developing signs of wear... I remembered that t-shirt over a drivers seat.

Here is my rendition for the Kia Stinger. I bought a new black 2X t-shirt, then had the word "Stinger" embroidered in metallic silver thread that is 2" high... put on the front of the t-shirt. The font for Stinger is copyrighted... so the font I used was called a "Racer" font. I'm happy with the way it turned out, and it will protect my seat from suffering any wear. Plus you can put it in the washing machine if it gets dirty. In addition, if the shirt you're wearing ever gets dirty or food spilled on it... you have a spare t-shirt on your seat. LOL

John...

That's worse than people who put "bras" on the front of their cars.. driving something ugly so the next owner can have a chip-free nose..

the bra is not for the owner of the car, its for the car. its a mask so it can hide its identity from other cars because the driver is ugly as sin.
