Drivers seat - side scuffing badly

non seating surfaces like that outside bolster are probably not leather. usually it's just where you actually sit that has real leather

still a synthetic material or real leather should hold up better

I took the occasion today to try to look over the side bolster of my seat. I have NO idea how you could do that to the seat. It's not even exposed when I get in and out of my car.

In my GT2, the seat automatically slides backwards and the steering wheel lifts when I power off the vehicle. The amount the seat goes back is configurable in settings. IIRC, the default setting on mine is not the furthest back it can be set to go. I wonder if something's interfering with the seat (interior panel w/seatbelt housing?) when it goes back far enough. I sure hope they take care of you 100%!
Can you provide the page reference in the manual? I've looked but maybe not hard enough. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I've not yet cracked the manual. It's in the settings you can get to in the display.

Ouch , not good....do you wear a belt? do you carry a wallet in your back pocket?
Also when you get out of the car where do you place your right arm/elbow? if found myself pushing against the right hand bolster to get out, have to make a consious effort not to do this. Just putting a couple of things out there, let’s hope it’s the cow’s fault & it is replaced under warranty :)

Yep, wear a belt most work days and wallet in back pocket. But its exactly the same configuration as the previous 10 years of getting in and out of my TRD Aurion with leather seats and not a mark. I did a few test exfiltrations and I seem, and its not often, to put my right hand higher up the seat.

My opinion, belt, wallet or bare arsecheek - should be wearing much better than that and I assure you - I'm just getting in and out like a normal person.

I'm sure I'll get a response from Kia - even if I have to chase it.

I'm hearing you - its like reading.....oh, I don't know...some type of old school instruction manual.
I'll have a look through the displays again. Thanks.

Current settings in my car its about an inch in front of the B pillar. Then it moves forward once ignition is pressed.

Yep, not holding up well at all.

I remember working on one of my first cars and sitting in the drivers seat with a screwdriver in my back pocket.....next purchase was a set of seatcovers to cover the rip in the vinyl. Hope KIA aren't reading this post....

OMG , you pushed over June Cleaver .................it cant be that bad !:p
I thought it was an image from an instructional video on how to get into the car without touching the bolster....

I'm now getting into the car via the sunroof.
remember to take your tool belt off this time ! and unplug the disc sander !

Seems the only way to avoid further wear and for every other owner too is to get in and out Hazzard Style - like this, see:

I'll start practising in my current car first.

Ok all kidding aside this issue looks serious.

Found it - now on extended. Seems to have made bugger-all difference but hopefully it will be enough.

I’m pretty certain you can have your seats replaced under warranty. This is not normal “wear and tear”. Please keep us posted...

The main problem is that the Aussie imports are using kangaroo hide instead of real leather.
