Drivers seat - side scuffing badly

At least it's not made of living funnel webs. :P

Can you provide the page reference in the manual? I've looked but maybe not hard enough. Thanks.
I’ve noticed the same thing is starting with my car man!

Now I’m really starting to get worried about the quality of the leather used for the seats. This is not normal. Please keep us posted as to how your dealer and KIA are going to handle this

I haven't gotten nearly the seat time I'd like just yet, so I'm curious--are these instances only appearing with Nappa leather, or both styles?

Nappa Leather (semi-aniline) is by type the least durable finish. It gives a softer, more luxurious feel, but wear resistance is low. I'm prepared to put up with it because my Stinger will not be a daily driver, and when the wear gets bad enough, it will be off to the Auto Trimmers for remedy.

The main problem is that the Aussie imports are using kangaroo hide instead of real leather.
Rubbish if was kangaroo it would never wear! All seats come from Korea. I guess the seats concerned do not have leather sides and that’s why it’s wearing thru.

I went and they are looking for an answer from Kia Main company for the red leather but it’s pissing me off.

The trouble is as you go in and out you are rubbing against the bolster causing wear. You may have to adjust your entry exit style ! Still it would be a warranty. I’m thinking the seats can be either A; be treated with some kind of surface protection or B replaced or C, get upholsterer to redoing a tougher leather. Will be hard to colour match if C.
Also try pushing seat back before exit and entry to avoid so much contact with bolster.
Just some ideas that may help.

Could be be the seatbelt contacting on the outside of the bolster whenever one releases it?

Possibly he would have to check that it matches up with the same spot when belt on.

I have nappa leather in my 2017 Optima---most likely the same source used for the Stingers. I don't have any wear marks on my seats after nearly 11k miles.

This isn't a nappa leather problem. This is a Stinger's nappa leather problem.

Is that with you inthe seat and belt on?

Was thinking more likely when releasing the seatbelt before exiting the vehicle, the belt or buckle might be chaffing the same spot as it retracts back and against the B pillar. Just a thought with regards to this mystery

No it’s wearing while you have got it on. Please confirm belt touching the spot when it car.

Ditto here - no wear showing on my 2017 Optima's Napa.
