Greetings all - just curious. Has anyone else noticed the side bolster (external edge) scuffing really badly? I'm getting in and out of the car maybe 4 times (total) a day and it's not like I'm wearing a toolbelt or anything. The car is at the dealers today for it's 3000k service and I've mentioned it.

Scared as to what the seat will look like in 2 years time if this keeps up.

I'm afraid to ask for a picture... :o

Its at the dealers - occurred to me to ask before I go back and probably hear some bullshit about the way I sit down isn't according to the design specs. Will post a pic when I get it back.....but it's not pretty.

I want to laugh - but I won't. This isn't that funny. :o Yeah. You're not sitting down right. At least they haven't said it yet...

The seat goes back to a really odd spot for me and I have no doubt my backside hits the bolster but it shouldn't be scuffing that badly......off to pick it up. Will let you know.

I followed the Aussie forum, including updates from @Madman, for so long while we waited for news in the US, but I never considered that I'd later be considering his rear.

love triangle ......................:laugh::laugh::laugh:

My car isn't showing signs of scuffing but I am really concerned about the long term as well. I have the light grey interior and am super cautious getting in and out... it's like I try to hip in without touching the bolster. It's like gymnastics trying to get in without hitting hit and I'm sure it doesn't look to elegant either.

Be prepared to be horrified...apparently they've lodged a warranty claim.

Oh snap! I was imagining something no where near that bad. That does not bode well for the life of the seats... Is that the nappa Leather? Or the "regular" leather?

Nappa....

How many km have you out on the car? How long have you had it?
At least they are going to warranty it. Hopefully your seat was made from some sickly cow that had a super weak hide, and it won't happen again..

I got it on the 8/11/17 (that's November for those who do their dates arse about). It's done just over 5000 km but about 2500 of those were in 3 or 4 long trips. I first noticed it well before it'd hit the 2000 km mark but with Xmas and everything.....

I think you may be getting ahead of yourself there - what the dealer said was "we will be putting a warranty claim to Kia and will let you know". Not quite a done deal yet.....

Yes, I'm hoping it was an inferior cow as well.

Yeah that does not look pretty at all.

Ouch , not good....do you wear a belt? do you carry a wallet in your back pocket?
Also when you get out of the car where do you place your right arm/elbow? if found myself pushing against the right hand bolster to get out, have to make a consious effort not to do this. Just putting a couple of things out there, let’s hope it’s the cow’s fault & it is replaced under warranty :)

Man .. someone should have told me Aussies drive on the left side .. I was somewhat confused :P This looks extremely bad ..... that's soemthign I'd not even expect after 10 years of normal driving. They will have to replace it .. but I geuss they can sit on some "You can't prove you've not abused it with toolbelts etc" crap.

In my GT2, the seat automatically slides backwards and the steering wheel lifts when I power off the vehicle. The amount the seat goes back is configurable in settings. IIRC, the default setting on mine is not the furthest back it can be set to go. I wonder if something's interfering with the seat (interior panel w/seatbelt housing?) when it goes back far enough. I sure hope they take care of you 100%!
