Driver side rear tire wear

Merlin. ~6500 mi. First alignment. Based on what a friend in the field says, few cars come off the truck with a perfect alignment. Customer never notices as the car drives straight and all. By the time wear is noticed it's blamed on everything but the factory.

^^^After I get an alignment, maybe I can go straight through a car wash tunnel without rashing my left rims against the guiderail. Not that I'll try that again anytime soon. The only thing I miss is the undercarriage spray.

Dealer offered me a free car wash twice... Passed both times... Hand jobs only thank you.

I'm glad I forced their arm to do the alignment. I took a printout of the kiatech instructions on replacing that bearing shaft. Interestingly they show to do an alignment on the 3.3 but not the 2.0. Makes no sense. On either model the ball joints get separated to get enough room to slide the shaft in. Anytime you touch steering/suspension parts an alignment should be done.

Ah, "my" dealer only does hand car washes. :)

I look forward to your alignment report Merlin.
Big lesson learned... Also, don't immediately blame your Son for bald rear tires .

Me too. I called the recommended alignment place and asked the key question: does c. 3/32nds of rim wobble make an alignment impractical? "Yes, you cannot fine tune the alignment if the wheel is out of true more than 1/64th to 1/32nd of an inch." So, I wait until I switch to my OEM wheels (and get my TSW RR wheel straightened): by then my PS4S rears should be mostly gone on the inside (new on, 3 May 2021, so, that was quick: should have gotten an alignment years ago, it looks like).

I got what I paid for with my alignment. Wheel slightly cocked to the right. I suppose this isn't terrible given the alignment is at least in spec now. Just can't win.

Wore out my Michelin pilot sports 4’s in the rear in like 12k miles. Wore down center only. Car was aligned too. Is this over inflation? Anyone else experiencing this? Awd so no burnouts here!

I would definitely suspect overinflation if alignment is in spec...

Not the only one. Here is a topic I started about this: High center wear on rear tires
I'm testing now with a slightly lower tire pressure on the rear.

Oh. I didn't report on this thread: alignment showed rear toe quite a bit out, which accounts for the inner edge wear and cupping that was starting. RR wheel straightened and balance on all four corners checked and corrected, and my ride is buttery smooth again, even at 120 MPH. :)

Well that is GREAT to hear Merlin.
