So I had replaced all tires on our 2018 GT-1 about 10 months ago... Went back to the tire shop for screw in the tire and they showed me this.... WTH!!
The screw was in the opposite side tire, I had no idea this was going on as well ...

Tires are all season Michelin and have 10k miles on them. The rear passenger is the only one showing the crazy wear. No, the car is not driven hard nor is it lowered. Occasionally getting on it but not smokey burnouts ...

Any ideas as to why? The tire will be replaced then aligned.

Wow!@#

No uneven wear was noticed when the tires were last rotated? They were last rotated ~5K miles ago??

Looks like you need an alignment asap. Or was something hit and bent a suspension part?

Did you get an alignment when you got the tires replaced 10 months ago?

That is, indeed, some crazy misaligned wear.

Worst I've seen on the forum. :( And I have complained about premature outside edge wear at c. 15K miles. Something has slipped, that is obvious (unless as suggested you actually hit a pothole or something and have spaced it off?). I was taking my car to the same tunnel car wash in the early ownership experience: until all at once that stopped working because near the end of the tunnel my car had sidled over to the guiderail and rashed my LR rim all the way around (not a trace of damage to the LF): the owner suggested that my car needed an alignment, and, "Did you hit a pothole or something"? Not helpful, since the answer was NO. (I've washed by hand ever since.)

Thanks for the responses, no nothing was hit and no potholes.. I don't drive the car as much as I did, was taken over by my son... He has played with the car also but not anywhere near that extent of wear or abuse. The original tires lasted us 17 k with no abnormal wear. No, the car was not aligned with the new tires. I had the vehicle off the ground to change the oil about 4 months ago and both of us inspected the entire undercarriage just out of curiosity, nothing unusual was seen.. would it be best to try the dealer as far as looking for suspension damage or wear ? I don't really have access to a custom shop anywhere nearby and as I said everything is factory.

Always get an alignment after new tire install. I doubt that that level of wear occurred in the last 3 or 4 months, it must have been out of whack right from the start. I would just have the alignment done first and see how far things were off. it's possible that nothing is bent or broken.

Yeah you need an alignment immediately. The alignment will also help determine if the car is just out of spec from an impact or if something else major is going on.

Burn outs?

Look no further. :P Children of any age are to blame car-related. Hah. Now, to determine what it is that happened is the tricky part. An alignment is the first thing I'd have done with tire wear occurring.

Camber cannot be adjusted in front: that wear looks like camber on that one wheel is seriously out.

In my case, outer edge wear, mainly at the LF, seems to be more a driver-caused issue, since I like to corner "spiritedly" and of course righthander cloverleafs dominate.

Since I don't really drive the car... Im guilty of just eyeballing what I can see, not physically getting under the vehicle... Lesson learned.
Can't really rotate either, just side to side with the staggered sizes.

I hear you. I used to rotate side/side on the G, but it wasn't as good as a proper rotate. I think it was really more for looks than actual performance, at least on the street. 245/45/18, 225/50/18 sizes.

Every so often (few months or before a roadtrip) I'll jack up the car and spin the tires. Two reasons, inspect for nails/screws/damage, and to check for uneven wear.

Not sure if I mentioned but total mileage on the vehicle is approximately 27K. Also tire size on the stock wheels is 265 in back. My son usually drives better than I do, and both of us were never one for smoky burnouts. Just getting on it with an on-ramp kind of situation . Neither of us remember a pothole or road debris. Needless to say, tires on order and alignment afterward... I almost hope something obvious is found suspension wise.. thanks for everyone's input!

looks like the youngster likes to do burnouts

That wear doesn't look anything like burnout damage.

The more I look at it, the more I'm leaning towards it being a very odd tire belt defect.
Unusual for sure.

It didn't cause any vibrations on the highway?

Keep us posted

Nope, no vibration. No pulling, no unusual sounds... As for the burnout thing, keep in mind this is a 2018 GT-1 rwd, so it has an open differential, this was the rear DRIVER side tire. With an open diff, you are going to roast the PASSENGER rear.

this wear is very clearly not caused by burnouts

Unless your rear drivers side looks like:

LOL... Thankfully, no. Doesn't look like that

I've heard more than once the cars wheels are not properly aligned out of the factory. I suffered inner tyre wear too but nothing like that.
