Do It Yourself Kia Stinger Oil Change

I’m having a heck of a time finding a filter for my ‘22 GT-Line. A few posts back I read it’s a cartridge style filter, however, any online tool (I like Wix) shows it as a spin on. I searched the following part number: Kia part #26350 2T000 which is what someone listed at the ‘22 2.5T oil filter and I was able to find them on kiaparts.com for $7 a piece. Just trying to confirm if it’s a cartridge or spin on. Thanks

***EDIT

Called the dealer and the correct Kia filter is 26350 2T000 which is a cartridge style. I answered my own question but will leave this post for any others that have questions.

Filters can be found at Kia.parts.com and they are $7 a piece. Local dealer wants $10 here. Ordering a few filters even with shipping will save a couple bucks.

Seems it looks like this, confirming your findings. A cartridge filter.

You are correct. I called the dealer and they stated it’s a cartridge.

*****Edit, oil also seems to be hard to find for these cars.

Oil I just ordered is Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy Full Synthetic 0W-30. From my research it meets the ILSAC-GF6 requirements as recommended in the owners manual. I will say I had a heck of a time finding it. Local parts stores don’t carry it and I ended up finding it online from Walmart for $28 / 5 quarts jug which was a great deal with free shipping after $35. Will definitely be buying more oil from there and best part is I don’t have to go to the store!

Planning to run Mobil 1 in the Stinger and Castro Edge in the Telluride. Telluride requires ACEA A5 or above which the Edge meets. Found three 5-quart jugs of that on Amazon for $75 which I thought was a pretty good deal.

I’ve always run Valvoline (biiigg Mark Martin fan when I was a kid) but I’ve run through the gamut of their product data sheets and can’t find oil that meets Kia’s criteria for either vehicle. I’ve hear both Castrol and Mobil 1 are good oils though.

Which race ramps do you use? There are so many options.
I've been using RhinoGear RhinoRamps (Amazon link). They do the job and clear the front bumper. FYI - my car is stock height and doesn't have a front splitter.

Changed the oil today on my 2019 gts. Always leave the skid covers off until I check for leaks even though I have never found a leak on any vehicle. Well today was the day. I somehow pinched the o-ring on the filter housing and had oil pouring out the housi when I fire her up

That sucks

Usually happens if the o-ring was not put in the correct groove.

Easy fix, to replace the o-ring (hopefully you had one)

Even happens at Kia dealerships.
See this thread

Yes. Same protocol I always follow when dealing with o-rings. Clean everything and apply Dow vacuum grease to the o-ring before and after installing in the groove.

Usually it's easier just to put a few drops of engine oil, that thick vacuum grease is nice to work with if you have it - might be overkill.

Oil filter came with an o-ring. After pinching the new one , I used the old one and it sealed with no issues. Not sure why it happened.

Interesting and informative video. Great OF placement and discussion. Too bad that Hengst doesn’t offer a fleece filter for the 3.3. Though he won’t say, he seems to be using the LubriMoly synthetic oil. That’s what I’ve been using. So far, so good, but only have 7100 mi on the ‘20 GT1. Once/yr OCI.

Having a hell of time figuring out how to get my torque wrench to fit so I can torque down the drain plug? I have a 22 GT1 and I have so much less room compared to the videos I’ve seen online of stinger oil changes. Advice?

What seems to be the issue?
Do you need a shallow socket? A deep socket?

Can you post a picture of the issue?

@G-692839 Is this your first oil change?

Been doing oil changes for the past..........30+ years. Never used a torque wrench. Good and snug. Depending on car will either use a wrench or a small 3/8" ratchet.

Last time I used a torque wrench on a brake banjo bolt, it snapped before hitting the spec'd torque. Had spares, did it by feel, never crashed the bike due to loss of brake :).
