[DIY] [Guide] Drive Mode Memory Module (prototype)

Is the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) button still functional if you do the resistor modification? Can you still turn ISG (Idle Stop and Go) on once the car is running?
Negative. With resistor mod the stop and go is always disabled.
You would have to put a switch button somewhere and then wire the switch in parallel with the resistor so you could bypass resistor as desired.

I was concerned about this loss of functionality but decided to do it anyway and haven't regretted it in the almost 3 years I have had the car

What changes required to go into custom mode instead of Sport at startup?
I think the timer is just incrementing the drive mode by one setting, ie from Comfort to Sport (meaning if you leave it in Eco it would bump you to Comfort).

So after you set the timer to function 3, delay 5 seconds, duration .5 seconds, you would set that last value to 2 instead of 1 to have it increment twice. Watch from 0:50 to 1:35 in @AWDGT2's video above. And I'm assuming incrementing further would wrap around from Custom to Smart and Eco...

It doesn't appear to wrap around. Hard stops at Smart and Custom.

In which case you could do 3 clicks and still get custom every time you turn the car on, independent of if you were in eco or comfort when you turned the car off, which is kind of cool.

That's interesting, so I guess the switch makes one connection to increment, and a different one to decrement, so you could just grab a different wire with the same kit.

@AWDGT2 do you know if this is the case, and if so which connection?

That is the case, there is a *right and a *left wire. I have the schematic at the house I can look at when I get home. I'll update this post tonight.
Edit
We are currently tapping into the green/yellow Pin 11 which is CW, to go in the other direction, tap into pin 12 Green/Blue for CCW direction.

That's really helpful. And it means you could implement a version of this that always put you in the correct mode, regardless of whether you'd shut off in Comfort or Eco, by incrementing/decrementing several times in one direction and then back to the setting you wanted.

Do you know if this circuit has a mode that lets you send two different signal sequences? Otherwise I guess you'd need two of them.

@AWDGT2 Is there any reason why one of these relays couldn't be used to set the ISG at startup as well?

.....And disable FCW?

There's an electronic copy of the instructions for the relay. I'm too new so I can't post the link but you can find it by searching for "multifunctional relay control module (FRM01)" It looks like you want to use function 07 instead of 03 if you want it to click a controlled number of times.

A dual module like this would do it. There are others out there but this was the first in Amazon. You could use it for ISG and Sport, or find the same drive mode every time by alternating the CW and CCW.

Does anyone have pointers to the connectors used for the drive mode and ISG/Seat heater switches? I'd like to make plug-in wiring harnesses instead of tapping into the wires.

I ended up tapping into the wires. I have it set up to automatically go into custom drive mode and turn ISG off. Works Great! Thanks @AWDGT2!

How long did it take you? Seems you have a GT2 (the "view" button)?

Mine is a GT2. It only takes maybe 1/2 hour if you have the taps, wires, and relay card. Programming is really easy.

Did some tidying in the center console today.

@AWDGT2 instructions are all good, but in my car would have disabled the ability to remove the center console from the car as he tapped into wires connected to plugs that don’t stay with the car when the center console is removed.

See photo for wires to tap if you want to be able to unplug the center console. Not noted, but all black wires go to a ground bus.

Hope this helps.
Did you find that the yellow wire on the white connector that drives ISG was changed to blue in the 2022 model?
