[DIY] [Guide] Drive Mode Memory Module (prototype)

Amazeballs!

Even easier, watch this...
For the 1k ohm resistor, does the wattage matter? I’m finding from 0.25 to 10w.

My high school electronics class was decades ago so if it should be obvious, I apologize.

Not that I’ve seen the option, but I presume, if given the choice, 12v is the way to go.

An auto sport mode solution would be awesome.

Thanks!

I bought a 10-pack of those this past January for this mod. Shoved the legs into the connector and it’s worked perfectly.

With that thumbs up, @AWDGT2, does that mean you’re working on a parts list and instructions for the Sport mode mod [he asks hopefully]?

BTW, I ordered the smallest batch of decent quality resistors I could find. For nine bucks they sent me a pack of 200(!), so if anyone in the North Carolina piedmont wants a few for free, just PM me.

I've had lots of inquiries in the last week so I will circle back around and do a full install video with wiring.
Waiting with bated breath (but I just had sushi, so maybe it’s nothing…)

This weekend! I bought another relay on Amazon and I have a second Stinger (2.5) that I will outfit and video.

Woo hoo!

THANK YOU!

How about this:

The green wire that goes from the timed switch to the yellow wire with the green stripe - does it come from the normally open or normally closed terminal?

Does anyone know the gauge of wire we’re tapping into? …the Kia wires that terminate in the white harness?

I need to buy new Posi-Taps because the ones I’ve used for years on my old car (blue 16/18 gauge) are too big to center tap these source wires.

I’m presuming they’re 22, but if anyone knows for sure…

Thanks!

Followed @AWDGT2 directions.

Success! Sport mode and ISG off on startup.

I made a few tweaks since the 22 GT2 has a few harness changes, but his directions will still work.

Did some tidying in the center console today.

@AWDGT2 instructions are all good, but in my car would have disabled the ability to remove the center console from the car as he tapped into wires connected to plugs that don’t stay with the car when the center console is removed.

See photo for wires to tap if you want to be able to unplug the center console. Not noted, but all black wires go to a ground bus.

Hope this helps.

To elaborate on my previous post, the yellow wire with the green stripe (drive mode) into the white connector into center console that @AWDGT2 identified is the blue wire into the blue connector that would allow removal of the center console. Top row, 2nd from right in attached photo. (Next to grey.)

The mint green wire (power) into the white connector into center console that @AWDGT2 identified is the red wire into the blue connector. Top row, 2nd from left in photo. (Next to tan.)

Happy fishing!

Is the ISG button still functional if you do the resistor modification? Can you still turn ISG on once the car is running?

What changes required to go into custom mode instead of Sport at startup?
