I don't know, she said while on the call that she had already emailed them as on the first call she said she had emailed me contact info and my case #, I have received none of the above. I know she's busy, but don't say I have already emailed them if you haven't. I have received no email from Kia customer support yet (yes, I check my junk folder everyday too).

You have 2 options initially. Repaint or no repaint. Only after choosing Repaint does the other 2 option become available.

No forms as of yet. Pretty sure there will be when I drop off car.

No, I chose no repaint and now the other two options are on the board which is what she allegedly sent the forms to me for. I am also no longer going to be going through her as I get escalated to kia america HQ I believe is what she said.

I added a comment to Merlins post - it was not well phrased, but it is merely his opinion/speculation, not established fact.

Why would you choose not to repaint? Maybe choosing not to repaint has taken the ball out of her court. She's probably only dealing with those who are going thru the process which have been made available. Anything other then that she most likely have to pass it upwards. Which then you should expect a slower process.

You might have to pick up your jaw.
And, I would love it if that happens! If Kia actually does send out cheques I will be a Kia Promoter every chance I get. If they compensate in a more practical, economical manner (some variant of my speculation), I will still sing Kia's praises, because I think that this reaching out by Kia is fantastic.

I need some of Merlins happy juice!
I "speculate" the $5k is used to offset replacing ppf, ceramic coatings, painting bumpers etc and if you don't need any of that it is just a good will gesture.
My rep Jessica has been great aside from saying it would be covered and later saying it would not. She also shared her direct numer and email. She is supposed to an "escalated" level as the first level was incompetant. (See need that happy juice!)

There is no indication of fine print in the letter for the 5k compensation so I fully expect a check or a choice between a check or 5k off the loan principle if financed by Kia.

Because they will not repaint the whole car, most of my chips are on the bumper, they won't repaint the bumper. I offered to keep it for a full respray but they are not willing to do that. She called me to tell me she had already sent the email with forms to me.. she did not, I called Thursday shortly after we hung up to let them know I still don't have them..still no forms!!! I can't make this failure on their end any clearer than I have I believe.

That is totally reasonable, and goes along with Kia saying "if you keep the car". Goodwill gestures are just that: a gesture, which the buyer/owner must reciprocate. Just saying, "Screw you! I am having you buy back my car, and I'm taking my $5K and going home!", will not go anywhere with Kia. And there's no reason why that attitude should get anything but the door.

I've been reading what you are sharing. And it seems like you are talking at cross purposes. Kia is plain about this: agree to keep the car long enough to respray the metal. Use the warranty to cover any bumper work that is not road damage (problematic, but there it is; work with them). Use the $5K to pay for anything else. Look the car over. THEN, if you don't feel completely satisfied, trade it for a different color (same model) or have Kia do the buyback. You refused the respray up front, demanding bumpers be part of the Yellow "recall" for respraying, which Kia said "nix to that" up front. So your refusal derails the process. I am sure that someone further up the chain is reviewing your case. But the extra time this is taking isn't their fault. And until they know what they are supposed to say to you, they can't communicate anything to you, thus the delay and lack of response. So it seems to me, anyway.

@Tonkabob Sorry to read about your Blue case. Did I miss it or did you say what the next steps you were gonna pursue are?

@Ucinn Hang in there man, you're one of the "blessed" lol here I am at 8 months of ownership with 8 months of paint problems and my Black GT1 case is still in the "discussion" phase. Reading about recent leasers with no intention of buying who have already had progress (even $5K goodwill for a car you're essentially renting?) irks me a bit (not saying that's you, just in general). Hopefully my case will be hammered out more this week, since that didn't happen last week when it was scheduled. Let us know how trying to go straight for a buyback works out (since that's what I'm leaning towards), I'm curious about the forms as well. When I asked about a buyback, I was told it was gonna be an entirely separate issue for me since it wasn't offered. Like some arbitrary person over my region would have to make that decision.

@MerlintheMad you know you don't have to reply to every comment in this thread :)

Anyways I took my car to get it serviced this past weekend (non-case related service). I was dropping it off and didn't have time to stick around and look at the other Stingers in great detail, but I took a few quick shots of the headlights of a few of them. Is it just me or do the fitment of these seem loose? The fitment around mine don't seem to have such pronounced gaps.

Three different Stingers just sitting on the lot. Didn't get a chance to check build dates or other paint problems.

I hear you. That can either discourage you or encourage you. I would rather it encourage you. A lot of these things are due to process. I work in a hospital and the most complaint we receive is how long things take. Patients don't have the luxury of seeing all the things happening behind the scene. Neither do we in this situation. Things are certainly moving in the right direction but man o man, that process though.

The 5k compensation imo is a great gesture but I would rather have my new car with a original factory finish assuming there was no paint issues. The limited is a very special car to me and I have treated it as such.

I purchased the car minutes after it was delivered from the dealership and I took the car home as is without them letting some minimum wage kid try to detail it or remove the coatings and plastic. My car then sat in my garage for 4 weeks until I was able to bring my car to my guy for paint correction, film and ceramic coating. My car had 26 miles on it so I made sure my car was unmolested from the dealership and I did no risk driving it before the protection was complete. This was an very expensive protection. Retail of $3800. My car has 1600 miles on it and I have treated it like a rare supercar because it is my special car. My license plate says 1of400 which was a badge of rare Kia prestige. Now I’m very disappointed in the fact that my beautiful car will be moloested and will probably never be the same. Screw the 5k as I want the car I paid for as a unmolested rare Kia stinger. Will they pay for the replacement paint correction, film and ceramic coating is a big question cause the 5k does not cover the rare beast being molested and for me to pay for the coatings again I’m pretty screwed. I won’t accept a replacement unless it is a 2019 limited in a special color. I feel beaten up already. Waiting to hear back from Linda.

I feel a hobbylike interest in the time I spend on this forum. It helps distract from certain RL concerns. :)

Oh I know how that goes. I have family that work in hospitals, on call 24/7, and I'm currently working for a hospital organization. I'll give Kia 3 of my 8 months (even though I went back to the dealership a week after I bought the car), since I didn't make a case with KMA for a bit (didn't know it was an option). My biggest issue is how non-Yellow, even those purchasing and have had long standing cases, have been treated. I wish I got the deal of a lease on a Yellow with the potential for 5K back & official options lol if yellow had been available when I was looking theres a good chance I would have bought that, as it would have matched my 60th anniversary Yamaha XSR900 motorcycle :D in fact, I don't think any Yellow even made it to my area. Hyndia/Kia doesn't even send all of their models our way.

@MerlintheMad Ok, I can't ding yea for that :P

Mine looks like that. So I'd say no, to looser fit or bigger gap. (This is the first time I've noticed that different colors have black or light liners; my headlight assembly liner is black.)

I can't help but wonder how many Stinger owners are going to need professional therapy from putting so much faith into a car.

I think the deal is arranged so that you have to repaint FIRST, then explore your other two options within thirty days. The "good will offering" of five grand is be used to cover additional costs to make the entire respray to your satisfaction. I would be very surprised if Kia were handing out $5K cheques, while also taking cars back left and right as buybacks!
Agreed, THIS is how the letter is written. however, during my follow up call, i was also advised by Linda that i could proceed direct to buyback and that the case would be handed over to the National Team (whomever that is?). I am waiting confirmation of this (skip the repaint that is) before making a final decision. IF they want me to paint it first and then tell them buy it back, so be it. Figured it would be easier to skip that part and proceed to buyback and thus save them the cost of repaint and loaner, etc.

For anyone who did the ppf, then had paint issues in the areas not covered by the ppf, what actions did kia do to resolve your problem? Did they pay for the re-application of ppf?
I am still waiting confirmation on this as well. Linda did advise that it "should" be covered as long as i could provide receipts.

No, I chose no repaint and now the other two options are on the board which is what she allegedly sent the forms to me for. I am also no longer going to be going through her as I get escalated to kia america HQ I believe is what she said.
This sounds similar to what i was told but again have not had anything confirmed. Waiting on call back this week.

I have to totally agree with you. Yes, paint is important, but in the long of it, not as important as engine failure, structural problems, tire issues, or electrical issues. As my Dad painted race cars at a high level and also a master race boat builder that was into paint, fiberglass and alike, it does not take a genius to paint things as long as the painter/company is great at it. As I have a knowledge of the best car paint shops in the southwest and also the ones to avoid, once I find out who has been given the contract to paint my yellow stinger, you can make sure I will be there to see that KIA's orders on the way to paint my car is followed or when I get the machine back, KIA can take that car and I will opt for another car or I will get my money back. That is for sure.

I'm just not making myself clear I guess.. I know it takes time, no worries..she said she already sent the forms, she has not sent the forms..Don't say "i already emailed you the forms" if you have not already emailed them. I'm not mad about the process, I'm not mad about the time. I think it's nice they are willing to go above and beyond to rectify the bad paint situation to my approval. The communication and saying something has already been sent and hasn't is what I'm upset about... and this has now happened twice.
