Umm... I don’t think so ... it seems more like the hood paint and where the plastic piece slides in ... as if friction is causing peeling around the fake vents inserts...

No - to me it appears to be the paint of the hood cut outs for the fake vent inserts - as if the inserts are vibrating causing paint to peel, ever so slightly - you really need to take a close look with a flash light - there was some discussion where some other aftermarket inserts would not cause this issue, can people please check and let me know if they see this issue? Again mine is thunder grey, Feb 2018 build.

Ah! That one. Yes, repainted hoods will do that as the paint cures and shrinks. A factory baked hood won't have the paint around the "vents" peeling. A number of Yellow resprays have done what you describe. I don't know what the solution is: but some offered the idea of using aftermarket "vents" that are not as tight as the OE "vents"; thus allowing the paint to move without sticking to the plastic.

HI All - can you all check your hood vents and let me know if anyone is seeing slight rubbing of paint off around in the crevices of the fake hood vents?

No issues here. I applied ceramic coating this weekend which gave me an opportunity to inspect all of the paint, and particularly all of the potential spots where problems might occur.

It is very hard to see and very minor at this point probably not worth doing anything but monitoring it - I could try to take a pic but the camera may not pick up, I'm talking like less than mm in size, like a sewing needle size and without a strong light you would not see it... it's hard to explain...

Well folks, Kia North America strikes again.

I think this time I am done with the whole brand. They want me to take the car back to the dealer that did the paint the first time because it is a "workmanship" issue.

I actually agree with you I think KIA is improving but paint issues are not new for them and although other manufacturers have similar issues the fact that the paint will affect the resale of a vehicle that will most likely have poor resale anyway makes me want to move over to a Lexus or Toyota. I am taking my car in Friday to be checked out by a KIA dealer near me that is going to inspect the issue and hoping that something magical can be done but may just bail out myself. I travel a lot for work and cannot deal with going back and forth to the dealer to resolve this problem. On the plus side I haven't seen a new chip lately but I have only put about 150 miles more on the car.

This is despite the fact that Kia did not paint the affected parts in the first place! How can bad workmanship at that dealer result in paint bubbles occurring on parts that were not painted?

The second part of this silly debacle is, if the dealer painted the car improperly TWICE, why on the face of everything that is sane would I even think of going back to them again so they can screw up a new set of panels? These guys even broke the passenger side rocker panels when they were putting the car back together and gave absolutely no shits about it.

In any event, I like the car as it was a gift from my wife for my birthday, but at the end of the day, it is a car and Kia NA is killing me. Even the wife is starting to say "screw Kia", lol. And she's the PC one.

Remind me to tell you one day about how they screwed up my order for a Telluride and how I ended up with a Palisade instead (after I put down a deposit in March and was told that maybe I would get the truck in October, if I am lucky).

So if any of you are in the market for an un-modded yellow Stinger, DM me.
...stay strong bro, you can see this through. Just keep the pressure on Kia.

Thanks, I would love to but the words of warning from many seemingly are coming to pass:

The Stinger is a great car. There is no doubting that.

The weakest link in all of this remains Kia and their crap dealer network. It is odd that I have not has similar problems with Hyundai/Genesis and the many vehicles I got from them. However, Every. Single. Kia. Causes. Angst, When. Going. To. The. Dealer.

All of them. Every time. It was so bad that I went to both a Dodge and a Hyundai store where I know the service advisors there and was speaking to them about getting all work on my car done there. Maybe it is just South Florida (and Ohio where I lived for a spell). Perhaps other parts of the globe fare better but it is my personal experience that the dealer network here sucks rocks and the yokels at Kia NA that represent them down here are not much better.

Could be me though. I should have done the swap and been done with them last year.

This, x100. There are occasional exceptions - from a sales perspective, I bought mine from Kia of Muncie, and it was a great experience.

I hope I never see the inside of a dealer service department.

Monitor, document and photograph to the best of your ability. Good luck!

Worse case, carbon fiber hood 5 years from now as I would like to keep the car long term and might PPF the front bumper and front side panels + pillars this summer.

how do you touch up the chrome parts, such as the mirrors? just curious...

If you’re getting failure of the black chrome trim, it’s another issue. Many are reporting dealers are replacing the failed parts. I’ve seen it more on Facebook Stinger forums.

no, I was just curious how do we touch up the chrome parts if they were to get chipped? the touch up pens only come with the ONE color. I've asked before but didn't get a response and was curious how others would handle it.

Last year, I asked what touch up pen the dark chrome is, and nobody could say.

There was one guy here that had the front grilled chiped by a rock, maybe he can let us know with a picture what it looks like when damaged. Others mentioned nail polish of some sort, I have no clue!

My Stinger is in the shop right now getting PPF done on the full front, mirrors, and side skirts. Went ahead and got Clearplex on the windshield too since that baby isn't cheap. I was planning on getting this done regardless of how good the paint was but reading this thread made me bump the appointment up to ASAP, haha.

Still, I went on a 1200 mile road trip for Labor Day weekend and was fortunate to hit no rocks or debris the whole time! I was pretty nervous about that.

Anyone have any clear coat failure on their stock OEM rims? Rear in particular...

I'm seeing this on both rear rims - fronts are fine.
the oem 19s are machined finished and not painted or clear coated , looks like a scuff , try wet sanding with 2000 grit
