Cylinder misfire and blown spark plug with LAP3 tune

This car has been available in Korea for a while. I'm assuming they've had the lap3 tune longer there as well. I wonder if anyone of our Korean friends could check out naver.com and see if they find anything over the pond. I wonder if they are having issues as well.
Never heard of any problem using the lap3 tune (uncle chip) and people have been using them since quite early, so its been over 6 months and no negative reports. The first time I hearf of a cylinder misfiring is here.
However, not everything is said on the websites and sometimes if you want to know in more details about this kind of subject, you need to join the offline meetings (which I do not attend).

By the way, I noticed two things:
- A number of people sell their uncle chips not a long time after installing them. It is not clear why they sell it. (it may be because they are worried about the car warranty)
- I read some people recommending another chip called "Unichip", but I don't know what are the differences. (If I'm not mistaken there are three chips: Uncle chip, Uni chip and Ghost chip)

Appreciate the info and insight!

Curious to see if the ignition components in the US are identical to those used elsewhere.

Update. Took the car in and had the 5th cylinder plug replaced (NGK). The bad plug was FUBAR (crack visible at base of electrode). The misfire continued during the test run. Next step was to swap the coil from another car. When the tech went in the new plug was already cracked and shot. Looking more and more like a coil problem.

Here are the plug that came out of Dark_Knight GT vehicle.

Having been a vendor for the Lap3 chip for almost 3 years now we've noticed customers seeking larger gains, selling their Chip when an ECU tune comes out. The Lap3 chip has always been ahead of the game when it comes to tuning/chipping options, well before any reliable ECU tuning has been available. This explains why many customers end up selling their chips and move to a full ECU tune.

One of the #1 selling points for the chip is its "undetectability" to the dealership and is easy to remove. Because of this many customers choose to stay with the chip over an ECU tune which rewrites the code and is much easier to detect

If there is an implication that there is something wrong with the chip or its effect on the engine that's incorrect. Maybe things are different in Korea but any information disclosed openly and transparently here in the web (forums) and no such "offline" meetings take place.

For those using the chip we have confirmed the upgraded plugs for the 3.3TT to be HKS M45iL, this should be the solution for customers using the chip with the 3.3TT.

Price is $180.00 shipped on (6) HKS M45iL plugs, anyone can email us Sales@K8StingerStore.com to place an order

I have been running the Lap3 chip since Saturday on my 2.0. Although I intend on A plug upgrade I haven’t swapped them yet. The increase in power is like night and day. So far I have had no issues and have run the car pretty hard.
Those using the 2.0T need to upgrade to the HKS M45XL

It seems that you are not the only one having spark plug issues.

It can be still isolated cases (let's hope)..

I can read that? Can you decipher?

Were they running stock plugs or upgraded plugs?

Might be a good idea to pull these from distribution until things get figured out.

I translated everything (in blue).
The comment says " HKS 45IL ". Is it a different type than HKS M45IL ?
That would be the same plugs

BUT they are running a dual chip set up which we do not support.

As stated, this case is a dual chip set up which we do not support or sell.

Thanks for your input though!

Dual chip is a quite aggressive set up (420+whp) but numerous people go for dual chip here.
With a single chip on high octane setting, you lose a bit of power in the higher RPM range, and this is corrected by using a second chip. (If my understanding is correct!)
Single chip with medium octane setting do not have that problem though, but the gain is relatively smaller.

Here is the States we do not sell or offer the dual chip set up

Also of note, he has (had) 424 whp! That's about 500 hp at the crank. I wonder how many SK Stingers have broken the 500 hp barrier. Is it common on those forums?

That at least will tell us (eventually) what weaknesses the drive train may have as the power is increased.
