3.3TT Cylinder #6 Misfire

Hi did someone have misfires with no engine light code. On my obd2 scan in mode 6, i get cylinders 2 and 6 misfire 1 time each for like 1 hr + driving . On every drive mostly wen the car is cold and misfire just 1 time each cylinders.

Most likely plugs need replacing..or you are running shitty fuel.
It has to be more frequent for an engine code.

Premium fuel new plugs and upgraded coils packs from lap3…maybe it’s because I add a bottle of redline sl-1 additives in my last tank…

No engine code I guess no big deal?
If it becomes persistent I would check into it but 1 misfire in an hour isnt a huge deal. I see you are also in Canada..try filling up with 91 Shell gas. I use it exclusively, it is the best I can find here in Nova Scotia. Where are you exactly?

I'm from Quebec and I mostly use Petro Canada 94 octane 99%of the time. Next week I'm gonna use Sea Foam SS14 Engine Intake Cleaner & Lube, sray in the vacuum line on the side of 2/4/6 and change my oil with Pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30.

I do this cleaning service twice a year (spring and fall) but always via throttle body…

I never use that stuff myself, I have 150k kms on mine. Never a misfire, I installed HKS plugs at around 100k but I do 99% highway commute.
I did a trans flush and both front a rear diff fluid change at 100k as well.
I would do a spark plug change if you havent done it and are concerned. What year are you and how many kms?

2020 60k

Hi if i use recall info firing order we have is wrong, anyone can look at please.
Cylinder 3 is were they work for the oil feed line on the driver sideIMG_1553.png

Is that the rear driver's side cylinder, or middle?

If rear driver's side is #3, that would imply this order (facing front bumper):
6..3
5..2
4..1

If middle driver's side is #3:
6..5
4..3
2..1

Edit: I don't think either of these is correct since cylinder 3 should be on the passenger side (see below posts)

3.3TT - Cylinder #6 Misfire Further up in this thread we get this "wisdom" from the guy that later on said a coil pack costs over $400. I've been all over the place with the question of cylinder numbering, literally for years, and have never gotten a solid answer. If this screen shot is true, then @Thomby 's second order is correct. I might be able to put this to bed, finally.

I double checked on my car, and the passenger side cylinders are definitely in front of the driver's side ones, meaning unless the Koreans disagree with everyone else in the world, cylinder #1 should be on the passenger side and cylinder #3 can't be on the driver's side (whether they number 1-2-3 front to back on one bank, or alternate 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 front to back).

So I don't see how they're referencing cylinder 3 in that guide for the driver's side turbo (it says it's for the SC300/K900, but it's not like they build a mirror image Lambda II 3.3 for that car).

Might have to do something crazy like disconnect a spark plug and see what cylinder the ensuing code references...

You would do that, "for the team"? I wouldn't ask you too, but if you did, I would be grateful to have this interminable discussion behind me once and for all.

It appears @Hydrajin was correct with his original drawing in 2019 (looks like he hasn't been active since 2020):

I disconnected the middle driver's side cylinder (right bank when in front of the car, left if inside), and threw a P0304 "Cylinder 4 misfire detected" error. This is consistent with the frontmost cylinder (left bank facing engine) being #1, and the sequence alternating banks front to rear:

(firewall)
___6
5___
___4
3___
___2
1___
(bumper)

One other thing, my JB4 didn't pick up the code, even after swapping to my ODB reader and back (JB4 reconnected and displayed idle rpm etc). @Terry@BMS does the JB4 only look for certain codes (or maybe just BMWs)?

I also didn't see a way to view codes on the dash or media screen, does anyone know if this is possible?

That is definitive for me. Thanks for confirming with empirical evidence.
