Curious...AWD converted to RWD.

But this is exactly what the GTS does. With the same components. The rear axle / diff are the same as the RWD versions save for those with LSD (Limited Slip Differential).
I was sceptical at first as well. This is not like other full time AWD solutions. Center diff torque transfer is variable from 0/100 to 50/50 based on the voltage/current coming in. Pull the fuse = 0/100

you will be putting excessive stress to the AWD transfer case by forcing every power to go to rear drive shaft.

How do you figure that? The AWD GTS versions do just that. And don't try and say that KIA designed a special transfer case just for a limited production run model.

well, you have a good point. they won't make special transfer case for limited production. I did not know GTS is able to put 100% power at rear.
I guess it would be ok to pull fuse and make GTS to be full time RWD for GTS since it's got same rear drivetrain as RWDs?
but I wouldn't recommend for regular AWDs

But the AWD GTS has the same components as the "regular AWD" (except for the LSD) the only difference is a switch to enable drift mode (100% RWD) and the software that goes with it. I believe the TCU has a different part # because of that software change. There was a big thread where people wet through all of the part numbers of both vehicles when the GTS hit the market. People wanted to know what it would take to convert their cars over.

Also, Some RWD cars have an open rear dif and some have LSDs. So all of the components can handle 100% to the rear.

On the surface it sounds like there would be issues but there really isn't. People have pulled the fuse for months at a time.

The GTS just turns off the circuit...same shit as pulling a fuse, we just have to do it manually lol.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Not that I have read. To engage "drift mode" you simply set up launch control and drive like a hooligan. Do that insistently and the power goes entirely the rear wheels.

I don't know what the differences are but there are two different part numbers for FWD and AWD. I haven't looked at other components.
AWD sport mode puts 80% to rear so pulling the fuse and putting 100% isn't too much of extra load compared to 80% i guess

I'm sure the rwd one is a little longer since it connects directly to the transmission vs the transfer case . But yes , tested out the "drift" mode on our indigo edition yesterday and it definitely becomes fully rwd! Love having the lsd , sliding around has never been so easy !
