Creaking noise driver-side dash area?

Mine is going in April 22nd. The mechanic noticed the creaking, we did not even have to road test beyond the Kia lot...it was that bad this morning.

The dealer never got back to me so I figured probably not the best idea to leave my car with them based on my experience with them up to this point. I'm putting it on hold too till I bring it in to another dealer for my first service. Hope they figure out what's going on with yours.

I couldn't take it any longer so I had my dealership look into it and apparently the windshield was installed incorrectly and was causing the issue for me (I don't have all the details yet because my Stinger is STILL at the dealership). Not sure what all the problem is because they are waiting on parts to fix whatever happened, but they claimed to have found it. I will post again when I hear more information back - but if you do take your car into the dealership beware that it may take a long time to get you car back. It has been 16 days this month that I haven't had my car and I am still waiting... Driving a Rio as a loaner... Kia made a great car but I don't think they are ready to have the customer service to support it :|

I have an update as well...they said my dash creaking was actually my sunroof. They removed my sunroof and the sunroof tub. Kia also told them to remove the glass between the windshield and sunroof to see if seated properly. Nothing has corrected the situation. They are now saying it's a sheet metal/structural issue and they will keep digging further. I'm not very happy right now. The car has been with the dealer for a week.

My dealership thought it was the windshield but after waiting for parts and then installing them the sound was still present. It has been weeks and they dealership still has it. After attempting to complain to the service department and customer service I turned to the sales manager who sold me my car and he helped me get a better loaner... at least I found one person at Kia who understands customer service .

Still waiting, still without my Stinger, and still not getting the updates and communication that I would expect. They are flying out a field tech but have yet to give me a date of when this will happen or what the plan is if they can't find the source of this. They seem to think it is a structural issue which makes me feel like they need to replace my car so they can keep looking into what went wrong in manufacturing.

So frustrating to be without my car, and even more frustrating that Kia hasn't really figured out customer service for premium sport sedan customers. Maybe they will get ir right eventually....

Creaking sunroof? Get some white rubber grease on it. Another member did this and it worked.

Update!
It is indeed structural in the end.
It was the joint between the windshield frame and where it meets the top of the a-pillar. Having my roof completely exposed the tech stuck something in the bad joint and the noise was gone. I'm not sure if they put a spot weld in the end or tweaked the metal permanently.
If you need more details let me know...maybe you can refer your service dept to my Kia dealer for more details on the fix.

Update!
It is indeed structural in the end.
It was the joint between the windshield frame and where it meets the top of the a-pillar. Having my roof completely exposed the tech stuck something in the bad joint and the noise was gone. I'm not sure if they put a spot weld in the end or tweaked the metal permanently.

I would love more details. I haven't heard back today, but just in case they don't fix it I would love to give them a name and a dealership who they can reach out to!

Turns out it wasn't anything in the dash or the windshield or the frame. After 47 days at the dealership they found it was a hood hinge that was manufactured wrong. After replacing it my creak/squeak was gone. What a pain... now I'm still dealing with customer service because I expect some of my monthly payments back since I didn't drive it for two months and I want my warranty extended. At least my car is back in my garage and not sitting at the dealership.

WOW! I totally understand your frustration. What happened afterwards? I'm really curious. Did they do something for your payments? Your warranty? Anything at all?

Problems happens, that's not the issue here. What's important is how they fix them and how they handle the situation. Please keep us posted on this matter.

Noticed a noise a few days after buying, ended up being a defective steering shaft. Dealer replaced and had the car back early, no noise.

I'm at about 10k. I think I might have the same issue. It rattles only on bumps and when my music is off. I was thinking it was a door issue some people are having. Hoping I can point them in the right direction when I bring it in when spring rolls around. Kind of dissapointed with such an expensive cars quality could be a bit better .Small things like these get me nerved and a lot of kia dealerships don't know what to do with our cars since they don't sell much in Canada.

Right there with you. I have 8K kms on mine and I've been hearing the hatch rattle plus the sunroof creaking from day one. Since our winters are so bad, here in Quebec City, I too am waiting for spring time to get it checked out...

It sucks coz it ruins the experience, a bit. I sold my '07 A4 S-Line titanium pack in november. Owned the car for more than 8 years, 200K+ kms on it, ALWAYS run perfectly and never have I EVER heard any kind of structural noise/rattle/creaking...quality is everything when you spend 50K$+ on a car

Yeah .our winters really kill it. I know it's the first year production and all but I've bought first year productions and never had as much issues as I have with the stinger. My last one was an 18 Camry. Then again, it was a Toyota so their quality off the line is always good. Not as fun to drive as the stinger though. However, with the stingers being compared with luxury vehicles, it would be nice if q&a was better off the line. It's a pain trying to deal with dealerships having them try to fix things. They're always reluctant to do so .

They flew in a tech guy and said everything is designed to be like that which is completely BS.

I escalated the issue via Kia Premium Customer Support, also a joke, saying that the fly in tech guy's verdict is final, and I will have to go back again to local dealership. If the local dealer can't figure it out, THEY SUGGEST I GO TO ANOTHER DEALER.

Has anyone else noticed a slight creaking noise coming from the driver-side dash area? I have not been able to pinpoint the exact location yet. I doesn't appear to be associated with bumpy roads but rather just seems to come and go and is most noticeable on smooth, even surfaces...sounds a bit like creaking plastic. It is not extremely loud but it is annoying in a car I've found to be taunt and rattle-free (since rear hatch SB322 kit was installed to get rid of the horrible hatch noise).

yes same as my Kia carnival 2017 platinum at over 90k per hour and gets louder .they say its not covered by warranty.not good

Hi, anyone else experience this? Usually when I am stopped, or just getting going, and am turning the wheel. Like if I was parallel parking, or turing the wheel to get ready to leave. I often get what sounds like a rubbing/grinding/scraping noise from the left front. It is a short, 'quick' noise, like something adjusted and reset. The tire is not rubbing on anything, had it looked over. It does not do this at higher speeds (yet).

Making me worried my steering assembly is a mess or something. It is not the normal CV joint clicking sound.

I've been experiencing the same issue for two to three years. The dealership has a hard time replicating the issue but they did once and say it is actually the rear control arms that is reverberating around to sound like the front. They also drove a 2022 GT2 and said the could replicate the issue with the brand new car, So this is not a warranty issue. I don't know if I totally agree and was thinking it is the driver side front strut mount but further investigation will be needed. So it sounds like contacting Kia will be the next step as this is unacceptable for a 4-year-old car and also a new car. @kiausa
