Hi there

I have a Stinger GT - in Australia and not sure if anyone else has noticed this issue but I have noticed that despite not adjusting my side mirrors or changing any settings that sometimes when I lock the car, the mirrors will fold in. Occasionally, they don’t. Similarly, I have them set to angle downwards when I reverse, and sometimes that happens and sometimes it doesn’t. I then fiddle with the mirror controls on the right to put them back to how I want them - so folding when I lock, and angling down when I Reverse. They stay as set for while and then suddenly stop doing one or the other.

The other thing I have now noticed is sometimes, only sometimes, when I walk away from the car it will actually self lock. This is great and it’s what my wife’s Mazda CX 5 does every time but it only happens occasionally in the Stinger. It’s very strange but it happened again just today. My keys were in my pocket, I walked away from the car about 10 metres and turned to see the mirrors self folding and the car lock.

Any thoughts / ideas/ reasons or remedies appreciated.
Cheers from Oz.

Not qualified to answer this question, my steering wheel is on the other side. But one way the doors self lock is if you unlock the doors with the remote and then don't open a door, they will lock again by themselves.

There are answers to all these questions in the manual and they can be adjusted in settings menu.
The mirror switch on drivers side if set to auto will fold mirrors in and out automatically upon lock unlock or if you get close to locked car with the key.
When you select reverse the mirrors I’ll down so you see the kerb on your side.
If you unlock car but don’t open doors the car will lock itself after a short period.

Hi AV8R

Problem is the setting changes on its own. It’s like I have ghost in the machine. I know how to set the mirrors to angle down, the welcome light and mirrors to come on with proximity etc - it’s just that for some unknown reason, the setting changes and I have not done anything to change it. For example two days ago, I had my mirrors angling down at reverse - yesterday they stopped. No changes made by me to mirror settings.

Thanks Paul32 - that helps. I’ll try and see if that is what happened.

Not saying it’s what you’re doing but every time my side mirrors start going crazy on me it’s always because I’ve accidentally switched them from auto to something else without knowing.

My only problem is when in reverse the mirrors only dip a little bit but not enough to see the rear wheel or gutter is this normal ?

Depends on how tall you are and how high your seat is set. The higher your head is above the mirror, the more pronounced will be the change to your viewing angle.

Thats what i thought was hoping i was doing somthing wrong ill just keep using the 360 camera to protect my rims

I know those type of settings are key fob specific. For example you received two key fobs from the dealer when you picked up the car. Key fob 1 and key fob 2.
Lets say that for key fob 1 you have everything as you would like it to be and it works fine.
If the following day for whatever reason you picked up key fob 2, the car will then reset all settings and apply the settings for key fob 2.

The mirrors folding in are solely a product of the switch on the driver's seat. I'm going to echo @OliverNuther and say that I've only noticed it behaving strangely when I've accidentally switched it getting in and out of the car. Flip it back and it works normally.

Same here done it a few times.

I had the same problem for the first month of the car. Then i noticed a habit with me clicking the switches to operate the 2 functions in question..

I thought it was ghosts in the machine as well and would always check my settings.. just fat fingers in the end. Be mindful of the switches and all should be good.

Has anyone manage to set side mirrors to tilt at your desired angle as I believe both sides will tilt down and there is no way to set our desired angle too.

Yes I have the same problem didn't go down far enough to see the rear wheel or gutter it seems to have a set tilt and that's it

Can you adjust it further manually after it tilts? They’re pretty big mirrors and cover a wide area. Mine work perfectly and show me exactly what I need to see but I sit pretty high too so that might be affecting our different experiences.
