Confused Electrics

I know those type of settings are key fob specific. For example you received two key fobs from the dealer when you picked up the car. Key fob 1 and key fob 2.
Lets say that for key fob 1 you have everything as you would like it to be and it works fine.
If the following day for whatever reason you picked up key fob 2, the car will then reset all settings and apply the settings for key fob 2.
Really! I had no idea. And I haven't run into this, because I don't risk both key fobs; the "spare" one is locked up. This is worthy of the discoveries good or bad thread.

I had the same problem for the first month of the car. Then i noticed a habit with me clicking the switches to operate the 2 functions in question..

I thought it was ghosts in the machine as well and would always check my settings.. just fat fingers in the end. Be mindful of the switches and all should be good.

I guess I never realized the 2 functions (fold mirrors on lock and adjust mirrors on reverse) were both controlled by the same (auto) switch. It is so easy to hit that mirror function switch when closing the door it's not even funny. Then there is the fact that it is actually a three function switch that makes it seem even more mystifying. It has made me wonder if there are gremlins at work.

I just parallel parked tonight and the mirrors didn't adjust in reverse, I switched it to auto while in reverse and they still didn't turn down. Maybe I needed to go out of reverse and back in to get it to work. I'll pay a little more attention tomorrow...

@WildBill: The mirror L/R switch is right next to the mirror auto/in/out switch. They are not one switch, but on first contact that mistake could easily be made. And they do take some getting used to, both to use and to avoid bumping them.

@WildBill in order for the mirrors to tilt when reversing the selector needs to be on eithe R or L, and in oder for the mirrors to fold when lock/unlock the car, the power folding mirror button needs to be on the auto position.

"Any thoughts / ideas/ reasons or remedies appreciated.
Cheers from Oz."

After driving a 1989 Mustang GT since new, the electronic skullduggery of modern cars is a very deep learning curve for me. The multiple adjustments within each function is daunting. I'm still doing an Abbott and Costello "Who's On First" routine with the shifter and door locks. Nothing cooler than grabbing the handle of this exotic, sleek beast in the supermarket parking lot and have people watch me chatter and beep a dance number with the handle. Please, just let me the f**k in my car!

Mirror folding was pretty self explanatory, this one however...
I never would have thought that the R/L switch being in the center would have an affect on the mirror reverse tilt.
Thanks!

Apparently it's not gremlins

Well said. My last vehicle was a '94 Voyager with five on the floor (yes, I do know what that means; it had three pedals). I had it for nearly thirteen years and babied it, including an upper engine rebuild, spiff wheels, paint job, etc. It was in better condition and ran better when I sold it three months ago than when I had bought it eleven years old. But roll up windows? My granddaughter did not know how to make the window go down when I asked her to drop it. :D There were zero "electrics" in that van; even the hatch release was non functional, having gone the way of the Dodo. And from that, I went directly to a Stinger. "Learning curve", yes, oh yes. It is fun, though. ...

Just Reading about this and remembering from my testdrive..

I have to Drive into a Carport. When Button is on R the right mirror tilted down. That is okay. But after driving on the Court, i Need to watch the other Side to not hit the car of my neighbour.

if i remember correctly, it didn‘t move down when Shifting from R to L - i has to set the other Side manually .. wish if it’s in Center, Both Mirrors are tilting - with my old car for now, i have to do that manually too - for Both sides..
I just Need that. Since i Need to wait until 2019, can somebody confirm that it is like i remember ? Or is there an option to configure that ?

Edit: just took a look in manual on internet..says both will move - i guess i remember it wrong

That is correct; if the mirrors are set to either L/R both mirrors will tilt down in R.

Can you adjust it further manually after it tilts? They’re pretty big mirrors and cover a wide area. Mine work perfectly and show me exactly what I need to see but I sit pretty high too so that might be affecting our different experiences.
Just tested and there is no adjustment after auto tilt.

I don't think the key fob has anything to do with seat settings (at least in AUS). I have only had one fob in the car when the seat was programmed and today I used the other one for the first time. The seat and steering wheel reacted the same way.
