If you hear a popping sound when pushing on the sunroof (passenger side).

This is how I fixed it.
Open the sunroof 1/4 way , carefully pull the plastic piece out (p1)
use torx t25 untighten little bit both of the screw(left, middle screw)(p2) .
Close the sunroof and push on it see if it still make noise.
It seem like the popping sound goes away when left screw is not over tighten.
Sorry for the English

Ive wondered how that piece comes out, I didn't want to wreck it. Pull it UP?

Car was in for three days for a frame replacement. Got the call that it's complete but the noise hasn't gone away so they've escalated to Kia AU who is sending a technical specialist out on Monday.

I guess that's a good sign? At least they've tested it sufficiently and identified the issue exists instead of just saying it's done and to come collect (and the cycle repeats).

Just got the call as the Kia specialist has come out. They want to take off "the back portion", "follow some procedure and make a few modifications". ETA +1 more week.

Sounds sketchy?

Sounds very promising, thanks for the info! But can't try it now — low temp fixed it for me, for now...

I seen a message here that only SoCal cars affected — no, I can tell it from my freezing Russia :D And as stated by some other people, noise usually go away in low temperature or high humidity.

Atm we have warm weather wave here and noises are back.

Ok, I tried to do all that and HAVING SOME PROMISING RESULTS! Removing plastic cover was easy, just need to be a bit patient, can be easily removed. Then I tried to unscrew left screw. I don't have proper Torx T25 tool so used just hex key tool and almost broke it trying. That screw tighten with some enormous force or need proper tool... I didn't notice if it budge, but after my tries and tool broken, looks as it helped — noises are gone immediately after the procedure. 2 days passed since, I hope it last (fingers crossed).

This is possibly great news.

Can we be clear that this is required on the passenger side only, or both passenger and driver? (see posts above--not clear)

And it is the front and centre bolts, with particular attention to the front-most one? (let's avoid using the term left and right in this discussion).

Thanks--a relatively simple DIY fix like the hatchback rattle, if it works.

As noise for me (and for most people afaik) been happening from the passenger side, I've done "fix" only there, on front bolt only.

Depending what part of the world you are in, the passenger side could mean one side or the other! lol

That's actually a great point in that is there a pattern to where the noises emanate from that crosses international boundaries? That is, the sunroof problem mostly/always comes from the right-hand side of the car (looking out the front windscreen)? The infamous hatch rattle was so easy--symmetrical!! ;)
