3.3TT Cleaning the Vavles with CRC Cleaner

I have a can of intake cleaner and am going to use it. For those of you that have done this, where exactly are you injecting the spray?

I have the ADDW1 Oil Catch Can and spray it in via the dipstick hole. You can also spray it in via the 2 spots I circled in the picture20220429_163700.webp

Since this car doesn't have a Mass Air Flow sensor, any path into the intake will do. The closer to the valves you get, the better the effect so try removing the passenger side PCV hose at the intake manifold fitting and spraying it in there.

Thanks. Was not sure if the component on the main air intake was a maf or throttle control. Could not find any description of the engine control system.

It is actually called a TMAP Which stands for temperature manifold absolute pressure sensor.

You can remove the MAP sensor and spray it? It would throw a code and CEL.

Okay finally set up to spray cleaner Checked to see what tools I need. Is there a special tool for the main air intake worm gear clamp? It is not a hex shape or an Allen head. Hate to damage clamp with channel locks or vise grips

the smaller line near the fire wall appears to be a little different than my car. There are two lines in the area. Not really clear, on the picture. Pulled cover from motor. One goes directly into the plastic intake. The other connects to some other line and goes who knows where. Guessing I should use the line that connects to the plastic intake. Am I wrong?

thanks

See picture attached. Perfect spot to spray into. Just make sure to wear some gloves, the engine bay gets rather hot when spraying

The hose clamp just has a cover over the regular bolt/screw head

why on earth are the hex heads covered with this "cap".

Are they some sort of torque limiting snap off one time use thingy that snaps off once the desired torque is reached during initial assemble?

These are the caps - removed from the hose clamp for a visual reference.

Most like is what you said .. a type of breakaway bolt cap at a specific torque.

Thank you all for the help. Followed directions on can. Sprayed into warm motor around 2000 rpm. Let it soak with motor off for 10 minutes. Took it out and drove it like I stole it.

did you just detach the hose part or does the circular part come off?

I disconnected the hose. It backed of the hose barb easily. Sprayed into the barb on the circular part keeping a finger covering the remainder of the barb opening. Found out this Helped in maintaining about 2000 rpm. Gloves absolutely necessary. Had to change hands several times and also change gloves.

Well I used the CRC today. I decided to spray it in the main intake by the throttle body. Seemed to go fine. One thing I did notice was that after it the one hour and starting it, there was no smoke or rough engine. The last time I used it on another GDI engine, it bucked and snorted and backfired at first. Not sure if that is a good thing or not when it does that.

Used CRC on my sons stinger same result not much smoke ran smooth the key is continuing to useAt least once a year or more depending upon your mileage

Maybe the last time, more of the CRC pooled up somewhere causing it to smoke so much and backfire. On that car I sprayed it into the air cleaner box.
I know it is very debatable (to the point of argumentative) about the benefits, but for $15 it's not a huge investment, and seeing how it ran after using it, I doubt any risks were involved with using it.
