Check Engine Light keeps coming on after dealer fuel injection cleaning

Unbelievable. If they try to deny covering this under warranty, nail them to the wall and do not let up. If one of their garage monkeys broke a bolt off in the turbo (I assume they mean the flange where the downpipe meets the turbo/manifold combo) that is NOT your problem especially since the whole reason you're even in this mess in the first place is because of a different Kia dealer's incompetence.

The Stinger and K900 used to have a "premium" customer service center, but who knows where these calls go now. 1-855-454-2847.

Do you guys typically take to local repair shops with good reputations? I figured due to it being under warranty I had to bring to Kia (not for the oil change but for repair).

Anyone have a contact "higher up" at Kia?

We are surviving fine with 1 car since we are doing so much less now than typically. Bob Bell offered a free rental/loaner but the dealership was 40 min away and didn't want to drive over an hour to get a rental I wasn't going to use.

If the car is going to be fixed eventually we'll be fine. A lot bigger problems in the world than having an operational Stinger but I do love the car! But if there is anything I could do to push things along I would certainly do it.

Yes, for any warranty work you do need to go to Kia. But for normal maintenance like brake pads, oil changes, etc. best to find a trusted local shop. Or even better, do the work yourself. But only once your current situation is resolved.

For your current situation, definitely leave it in Kia’s hands as you did what you were supposed to and the first dealership messed things up.

As for who to contact at Kia, I would contact whatever customer service number is listed in the owners manual or on the website. Then explain your situation and see what they say. Ask if your ticket or repair could be looked into and/or elevated.

Sorry to hear about your problem and I wish I could point you toward a resolution. Hopefully it's an easy fix. It's really a roll of the dice bringing our cars to the dealerships for service. This was me the one and only time I brought my car to a Kia dealership for service... View attachment 47533
True... I never get my car serviced at a kia dealership anymore. I go to a Hyundai/Genesis Dealership now with much better customer service and way more comfortable waiting areas. I'll only bring my Stinger in for warranty if there ever is a need.

Breaking studs off the turbo flange when removing primary downpipes seems to be pretty common, there has been several threads on here of this happening.
That is 100% the dealer mechanic's fault and they are now responsible to fix it.

Do they give you any BS about doing that? I need to bring my car in for a rattle in the headliner and I really, really do not want to deal with the Kia dealer. I'd much rather deal with the Genesis one.

Service your car when you need routine maintenance anywhere you want, I just like going to Hyundai/genesis cause they’re close by. But for warranty things like for example your headliner rattling, you would need to bring it to Kia to avoid charges if within a year of purchase.

My car has been at the shop for about 2 weeks now. They hope to have it fixed in next day or so. Kia has asked them to remove the bolt that went into the turbo (i think) instead of replacing the turbo. As a result this must be done by Kia specific mechanic at their shop and they have been backlogged. Very annoying. They say they have to be careful to not damage the exhaust system. Is there anything I can do when I finally get the car back to know that things are satisfactory? I am not really a car guy.

Yes. Do a few launches. :P I'm not kidding, actually.

I've never done one but I could try! Will something specific from the launch show if the turbo is working?

Yes. The car will flat on its face (aka limp mode). Also, if the turbo is actually damaged or going south, it will make "unhealthy" noises (my "experience" with diagnosing a bad turbo is reading others' experiences, mostly on here, by the way). You can test the turbo by just demanding boost. When you have "pole position" at a light and the speed limit is at least 45 MPH (so you can "safely" go 55, hah :D), just roll, push to the kickdown switch and listen and FEEL. If you are satisfied that your Stinger is ready to kick butt, then that should answer any worries you might have. Boost is available starting at 1300 RPM.

UPDATE: My car has been at Bob Bell Kia Service Center for a month. Early on I was able to get updates but now no one will return my calls and when I do get someone on the phone its weird excuses. They are close. The power was out. The only kia certified guy was sick. I didn't take a loaner that I was offered a month ago because we aren't really going anywhere during COVID so we can get away with 1 family car but this is flippin ridiculous. I have had a ticket open for 3+ weeks with Kia Consumer Affairs which I got the number for from an earlier post. Their updates to me are that Bob Bell Kia is not responding to their inquiries.

This is a joke and sadly will probably affect future decisions when deciding on Kia or not. I really enjoy the car. But warranty work of 1 month + just cant be acceptable.

Well, at least Bob Bell Kia can be checked off your list of suitable car service people. "My" service center has never disappointed me.

Unbelievable. I'm sorry you're dealing with this stuff. As much as I thoroughly enjoy my Stinger, all of the horror stories I've read on here have made me fairly confident I will never own another Kia product again. I still need to take mine in for a noise in the roof and I'm dreading it.

Dang, I'm so sorry.. Yeah, service departments for Kias are notoriously bad. I gambled because there weren't many other choices in that price range.

I would actually go talk to the service supervisor, or contact a local "fight for your rights" TV or radio reporter. Owners don't want their dealerships called out on radio/tv.

Just keep checking on your car every few days even if they keep jacking you around. And I would also keep calling the service number. Try to be polite also.

Another thing you can do is call the KIA service number and ask for a payment re-imbursement (if you are financing or leasing). You are still paying for the car even though you don't have it. They may not agree to that but they also just might.

A few years ago, I went through a 3-month ordeal on a Chevy Cruze. Dealership had the car over three months. I ended up being re-imbursed two monthly payments in addition to them paying the entire time for a rental car for me.

I didn't buy my Stinger at Bob Bell, but I went there for recall/warranty work. I took advantage of the covered Nissan Sentra rental, and I drove it for 8 days. They had to get approval from Kia regional mgmt for brake rotors and battery replacement, so it took longer than it should have. They also took pictures of the crackled painted roof strips and got new ones covered under warranty. However, once Covid hit, they haven't been as responsive, and my roof strips have been sitting there for 6 months waiting to be painted.

I don't know if there are really any totally honest, efficient, competent, and affordable dealerships out there, but I used to take a 95 Corvette to their Chevy dealership many years ago, and they often gave it the white gloved treatment, to include parking it inside until I picked it up. This also was a car I bought somewhere else, but they were happy to suggest and repair warranty-covered issues like cracked rubber moldings.

Maybe just chance, but maybe they read my post above, lol. Not to hijack the thread but, Bob Bell Kia just left me a message that my new roof strips are painted and ready for install.
