Changing badges

I'm actually going to plastidip the Stinger logo for the back. I just couldn't see paying an extra $40 to have someone else do it for me, especially since I already have a garage full of paints/plastidips.

I'm with you on the wheel logo (and steering wheel). It needs to be replaced. I'd go for a set of the "Kia Motors" emblems for the wheels if they were available. I guess we'll have to see what comes up.
..........a tip on Plasti Dipping these emblems . Make sure the can is warm , fill a pot with really warm water ( tap heat will do ) soak the can for at least 15 mins . Shake really well between coats and keep the can in the water when the emblems are drying . This keeps the PD nice and smooth , it will take about 4 or 5 coats to get all the crevices ,

Good Luck

I actually bought it while I was on the long ride home from the dealership. By the time I got home an hour later I looked at my email and the tracking info was already there. Doesn't get much quicker than that!
Good. I do my very best. :) :) I do typically get orders out within the hour they were ordered...

Well dealer just called to tell me that under my front badge had the same paint missing like some other members that found this .. luckily I didn’t take any chances and had the dealer remove the, this way they have to fix it..

Disappointing but at least it’s fixed.

hmmmm ? I'll bet the were too rough removing the badge , I've removed all my badges gently with subtle amounts of heat using either floss or fishing line and never removed any paint ................as long as its fixed !!:thumbup::)

As much as I like the rebadging you have to ask yourself if the Kia badge was treated with respect if we would all change it. I had a lengthy discussion with Sting about this and we think it’s our job to keep the badge to make people aware Kia has changed its game and is now producing a high class world market sports car. Kia will most likely change the badge on the near future to the E badge which does look better but we don’t want to keep people guessing we want them to know this is a good Kia car and that past reputations don’t count. My badges are going to stay . That’s my two cents worth.

^THIS. Exactly. I work for a Kia store and I bought a Stinger GT, and this is my exact reason for not debadging. it's not the aesthetics or cost. I love this car and I do think the Korea badging looks 10 times better than the goofy block letter KIA badges; but I don't feel like having conversations with boneheads to explain how far Kia has come, etc. etc. etc... I'd rather have conversations with people who already can see it's a Kia, are interested, and still want to talk about it. if that makes sense....

I think it's a concerted, planned effort by Kia not to rebadge this car line like Hyundai (Genesis) and Toyota (Lexus) and Honda (Acura) do, but instead try to change their brand perception instead of just creating a new brand.. ...

...................but how do you square that up with their Domestic branding Strategy E , they havent got their strategy nailed down .................I'm a huge Kia supporter but their logo is dated and uninspiring IMHO

I can't speak for Koreans, because I'm not one, but I know their brand perception of Kia is different than ours. it's like Ford or Chevy for them. Their choice to sell it domestically with E badges could be for a million different reasons, but I don't believe it's due to a negative brand perception. When I owned a scion, I know they weren't badged as Toyota OR Scion in Japan. it was some other brand, I think it was "NETZ"

I'm planning on going halfway on this. The KIA badge will stay on the hood and wheel hubs. The back will remove the small Stinger on the left and the round KIA in the center and be replaced by a bigger Stinger logo in the center of the hatchback. That way anyone can see it's a Kia from the front, both sides and interior (steering wheel). I just like the larger Stinger in the center of the deck lid that tells what it really is.

I’m going to keep hood and trunk and just update wheel caps. I agree with what your saying. Plus I am worried about damaging paintwork. I’m also getting ceramic coating on paint before delivery so I don’t want issues there as well.

Have you seen the wheel centre caps with the " GT " logo, on the forums Stinger store, another choice ?

Yep mine arrived yesterday so I will do same when car arrives.....if it ever arrives. The threads have been saying in the US there are no SWP available and you have to wait 12 months! I’m scared I’m not going to get mine.

There is one Pearl at my dealership in my town right now. It's the 2.0

Yes, but I went with the "E" hubs and big Stinger on the back deck lid. Order the stuff today, don't get the car until a week from Monday.

That's not true. There are Snow Whites at my local dealers.

I wouldn't debadge because I'm ashamed of the Kia badge. I just think the E badge looks better on the front, and the Stinger script looks better on the back. I probably won't do it though. Not because I'm trying to advertise for Kia, but because I'm inept and would screw it up.

Are the white ones in local dealers 2.0 L or GT2?

PS, anyone else in the GTA that wants a great recommendation for window tint, PM me. The shop I went to did it all in 30 minutes, and the gap at the top of the windows is less than 1mm.

Hey! What percentage is your tint?
