Still confused. What can you do or NOT do using bluetooth? Same with USB? In other words what are the limitations for each type of connection?

Android Auto and Apple Carply require USB. Bluetooth allows phone, text messaging (I think? I've not tested this), and music/audio players. Others here may have more and/or better info.

Bluetooth doesn't send text to stereo, at least for android. You have to connect via usb and use android auto.

@mldavis2, @Kazz, you can use voice-to-text or text-to-voice over Bluetooth, though. On Apple via Siri; not sure what it's called on Android.

Doubt it, not flat enough for anything, IMO.

Correct. Hold the voice button to activate Siri or Google Assistant.

Okay, here are a couple more pics. They show the driver's view of the mount without, then with the phone. Since it's a wireless fast charger, there's no need to connect the power

cord to the phone.

I have this same product and placed it in the same location, did'nt work for me, the weight of my phone , Galaxy Note 8, pulled the adhesive up from behind. should I have let it set a day before using it?

I don;t have this base, but generally, I will leave my holder set for a day before using it. That does seem to help. Also, I think this is just me, but during hot hot days, I won't use holder for fear that heat my loosen the adhesive.

I ended up finding a much better spot, I'm not a big fan of items on my dashboard and I hate clutter, so this position for me works perfect. rear side panel of the center console which is plastic so the suction/mount adheres to it perfectly. check the photos out.

I'll warn you like I warned the last guy. There is an airbag in the panel by your knees, if you get in a wreck that phone is going to become a projectile through the cabin.
Not to mention it seems really stupid to put a phone somewhere where you have to take your eyes so far off the road to see it.

gotcha, appreciate that thought. i'll continue to to look for a better spot. but as far as taking eyes off the road, isnt that what happens no matter where the phone is mounted? the object is to look at your screen when alerted. not a good practice but i'll mitigate it with safe driving.

That's basically my point, just put the damn phone down and drive. There is no reason to have a mount at all. People staring at their phones while driving are really no better than drunk drivers.

Those interested in using Apple Carplay and Android Auto need a place to put a phone and have it attached by a proper cable. You can't do that and keep it in your pocket. Your opinion's noted. But it's not practical for some/many. Everyone's potential solutions are appreciated as are the critiques, especially for safety. Thank you.

My mount is very solidly attached.

Surprising that your adhesive didn't hold. Before installing mine, I cleaned and dried the area, then wiped it with alcohol. Next, installed the adhesive pad, pushing it hard into the dash. Finally, let it sit overnight before attaching my phone.

I found the perfect spot for my phone. Right inside the cubby with the sliding door open with the 12volt and the USB charger. Just sits on its side perfectly.

Don't have to worry about adhesion (or the marks it can leave), air bag projectiles, mounts falling down cause of the heat or road movement, or anything else.

It's stock and it works. Who knew?! We don't have to do something just to do something.

I got a similar mount to yours, the Scosche Traditional Qi wireless charging car mount, link below, but I mounted the exact mirror image of yours, in the passenger footwell side and I think it's perfect there. only a couple inches of wire showing and I can keep the sliding door closed. and not blocking a knee airbag.

I haven't found a suitable mount yet. So far, it's as easy to plug the wire in as it is to fumble around and mount the phone in the bracket - and mine has a heavy impact case around it. A bare phone would be easier, I'm sure. Still looking for the perfect solution. Just don't like stuff like that hanging around in the car on the dash.....
