Hey guys, I'm at loss and I can't figure out why this is happening.

Randomly, my car won't build any boost. I 1st noticed this issue about 2 weeks ago before I got my catback installed. Everything was fine until I came to a complete stop at a stoplight, the light turns green, I accelerated to the speed limit, and no boost. The car will continue to not build any boost unless I cycle the engine (turn it off and on). Fast forward to today, I got my catback installed yesterday (which sounds awesome) and I've noticed the same issue twice today. Gave it ~45% throttle and...no boost. This hasn't happened until about 6900 miles and I'm at 7183 miles currently. Also, I haven't received any CELs. Without any error codes, there's nothing for me to go off of.

Has anyone else run into this issue before? My local dealer won't look at it till Dec 2nd due to being backed up.

The only "performance" mods I have are JA Airscoops, K&N Drop-in filters, and a JUN.BL Racing Catback. No downpipes, no high-flow cats, and no tunes.

Very odd problem, and without a way to log it's hard to say. Until you get it into the dealer, I would disconnect the battery and let the ECU reset. If any bad adaptives or maps were built, this will reset everything back to normal. If it clears up you're GTG, if it happens again then it definitely needs some attention.

Are you in comfort mode or eco or any other mode then sport when this happens? I lose all boost if I hit some rough pavement When not in sport. Same thing, no lights no limp mode message. A engine cycle fixes it like yours. I find that the traction control is a bit over reaching at times. Was at a light when a ford raptor wanted a little race. Floored it, hit a crack in the pavement, car dumped all boost and disengaged torque converter. Then started to build boost again and then dumped it again. Still smoked the raptor lol.

Did the engine RPM go straight to the Rev limit when your torque converter was disengaged?

What makes you think the torque converter was "disengaged"?

Rpm jumped up and the car lost all go power. Maybe it was just the result of cut boost and power.

Were there any fault codes?
That doesn't sound like the way things are supposed to work

No fault codes. I can confirm that it is the traction/stability system doing it. It has been noted on other stingers as well.

Yes for the 1st time I was in Custom mode (Sport powertrain, Sport steering, and Comfort suspension). The 2nd time I was in Sport.

I guess that's the car's way of saying the roads are trash

Well that makes more sense. That would be the engine cutting fuel, not the torque converter disengaging.

Ive had this happen a few times. Seems to usually happen when turning and hammering the throttle.. pretty sure one time it had to do with the stability control cutting boost somehow cuz I attempted to throw the ass out.. now I've had it happen a few more times after installing my jb4.. from looking at logs it looked like I overboosted.. weird the car doesn't show any light or warning etc... Just turns your boost off til you restart the car

I haven't had any more problems with boost since I made the post (knock on wood). The stability/traction control seems like the main possible cause. Hopefully, the car just needed some time to adjust to the faster acceleration.

I see you have DWS06 plus all season tires. How are they performing on the car? My car is rwd and I plan on getting all seasons after the factory summer tires wear out.

It's irritating that the traction control is never fully off, I would like to throw the ass end out more haha..I got the DSW Conti's with my rims a couple months ago.. I will only use them in spring/summer/fall and I went with wider than stock size, but I tell ya what. These things have amazing grip, they look great, and 50,000 mile treadwear. There's a reason their reviews are always so good. I'm pretty picky but truly one of my best purchases, no need to waste money on summer tires.

How did the ATQ subframe kit treat ya?? I'm looking for options on stiffening the car up more

Love em. The subframe kit really smoothness out the ride and reduces flex. I honestly recommend everyone get the ATQ subframe kit since the Stinger is a hatchback and naturally has less stiffness than a traditional sedan with a trunk.

Yep your not wrong the kit is dope. I also have the subframe braces and my flex is almost gone lol

Where you get the braces?
Ultra racing. Kia Stinger (CK) 2018 Ultra Racing Chassis Braces I got all 3, front was a pain to install because I had to cut some of the plastic felt undertray off to make it fit but well worth it. As they say, a small price to pay for salvation. Ps import shark also has some from a different company for sale but I have no experience with those so up to you.

OP, have you had any more occurances?

My 2022 GT2 AWD, 2500 miles, shut the boost off today, and an engine restart restored it, thankfully.

Not very happy about it - especially on a brand new car.

No, I haven't had any more occurrences. So I'm pretty glad, idk what is the true cause though.
