3.3TT Car randomly not building boost

Will it do the same with the traction and stability control turned off?
I haven't driven it with traction and stability off yet. I have taken joy rides where I've driven harder trying the recreate the problem, and I've been unsuccessful. As of now, the last occurrence was November 5th. Knock on wood, hopefully, it sorted it's self out.

anyone figure this out? I've changed plugs and coils and it still does it - randomly..

IMO sounds like the classic case of overboost/limp mode. Can happen even when all stock from what I heard other owners say that happened to them. It's more likely in colder weather once you install intake or/catback. Only way around it is am ecu tune or jb4 with ewg wires.

I had same problem and jb4 with ewg was like magic. I did many pulls back to back with logs that would 100% put me into limp mode after jb4 install. Zero issues anymore and i have quiet a few mods on mine. I had to dial down my wastegate adaptations to about 45. That's where I leave it mostly. Sometimes I experiement with 50 but never above that. Logging is how you will find the sweet spot and I actually had chatgbt help me analyze it.

That's definitely weird since an ecu tune should rule out oveboost as they all have that feature built in to prevent it if I am not mistaking. Maybe its something else that remains a misery.

i have to try and catch it in a log and see if the tuner can determine anything

but completely randomly.. not often, just when it does it’s annoying

Yeah definitely a log will help. Not sure what fuel you running but look at the trims and hpfp. If the hpfp goes like below 8 it will crash. It has to be ideally at 10 and above. The fuel trims cant be too far apart from another. If i rememeber correctly they cant be more than 10 numbers in difference.

Not sure if this matters at all but I know if i run higher than e35 on mine the hpfp will not be happy. I rememeber first time i filled up at a chevron station with bit over 4 gallons of e85 and the rest 91 it was way too much ethanol. It was at e38 and the car did not like getting into boost lol. I had to drive it for a while and put more 91 as the hpfp would crash and cut power. Sometimes fuel can vary also from one station to another as I learner. I havent tried shell for a while but chevron seems to be the better. 😁

Check boost 1 = turbo psi and boost 2 for charge pipe if they’re the same your ok- check fuel and boost solenoid and bov leakes or lines connected to it . Change the boost solenoid. If boost 2 is less check all for leak

thank you
Welcome if things don’t work out tell us if you even got a tune- my boost solenoid always goes out when I wash the engine bay 🥵. If you’re tuned you need meth cpi or fuel that matches the tune

it’s a Lap3 stage 2.5 with CPi and E60
Curious to know what mods you have and what kind of power you putting down. I'd assume headstuds have to be done at that level. 😁 i know once you get in the low 500 whp range you pretty much need headstuds.

What’s the sweet spot for not having head studs ? Can I make same power with just wmi at map 7 and not need headstuds ?

Probably right below 500 hp. On KJT's website he mentions:

*If you are planning to run any tune above 500whp please have the following*

Headstuds***

Catless Primary or Secondary downpipes.

I think his e30 tune is a pretty sweet spot at 475 whp/556 tq. IMO around 450-475 is a pretty good sweet spot without pushing things too hard. Maybe 450 to be on the bit safer side. Not sure what kind of power wmi gives but i would think it would be similar to e30 kind of tune.
