Bye Stinger, I hardly knew you...

Correct. Their Supra Connect app is also Apple only.

That really does have BMW written all over it. They provided Apple Carplay exclusively until around 2020. Prior to that they flat out refused to put Android Auto in their cars. That has to have been filtered down to Toyota from them.

Nice choice!

Toyota is really slow when it comes to tech features. My 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport has none of the following features and wasn't even an option: power seat(s), Android auto or Apple carplay, power mirrors, heated or cooled seats, safety tech features (lane assist/blind spot alerts, emergency braking, smart cruise control, etc.) or power tailgate lock.

Great colour, great car. Certainly would look at buying one of these if they were cheaper.

I had a 2016 4runner and was surprised that I'd have to step up to the Limited trim just to get automatic headlights. That's standard equipment on $15k cars for fucks sake!

Congrats man! Can’t say I expected anyone to go from a stinger to a Supra though, couldn’t be anymore different. What made you get a stinger? For me it’s that it’s quick but still has a ton of room and awd. As bad ass as the Supra is its the opposite of practical haha
Was just very curious since it’s like going from a ram rebel quad cab to a single cab Toyota Tacoma or something.

I agree with the practicality comment. It is an apples to oranges comparison. Dare I say that car looks desperately over styled as well. Screams “look at me” but the lines are strange. The rear fenders look odd and sorry that’s just not a spoiler.
Not trying to be mean but I can’t shake this image when I look at it...A4359B44-3EE6-464A-859C-4ECE2552441D.jpeg

Fun fact but for a long time there was a myth circulating that the Turkey and not the Bald Eagle was going to be the bird to represent the USA. I like turkey; they're yummy.

Some might argue (from a drivetrain perspective at least) that's a good reason to get one.
No excuse for a heavyweight like Toyota to borrow parts for their flagship product!

Should be called the BMW Supra

They couldn't have made the supra without BMW. I do think Toyota should have used more of their own parts. The interior specifically. It's very nice, but it screams BMW. But as far as the powertrain and the platform in general, the money they would have spent on R&D would have never been recovered, and they would have never made a profit, so the car couldn't exist.

I'm not sure it really is their flagship anyway. I'd say the Landcruiser is. It's far more expensive and when I think of "flagship Toyota", that's what comes to mind. at least my mind anyway.

I had transitioned from an Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport that was amazing to drive, but had horrible reliability. I still enjoyed a sedan and the Kia overall offered everything the Giulia did plus more (more hp/torque, better tech/options, more reliable). It seemed like a good progression (and overall it totally was). My only gripe was that its handling wasn't as tight and definitely felt like the much larger/heavier car it is.

If I could afford 2 cars (or have room for a 3rd car - we have a CUV as well) , I would have kept the Stinger as my daily.

Since I can't, and I would prefer to having something more tossable and fun and don't need the extra space, I chose the Supra.

That myth is as old as Ben Franklin, and made it's way into the musical "1776". Watch it. :D

Grats man, love the color.

Supras get a lot of shit for being BMWs in toyota clothing (deservedly so), but I'm sure it drives great and the B58 engine and ZF tranny are a fantastic power train. Easy to get into the 10s and sounds way better than the stinger.

It's a shame the creature comforts are a little gimped. Toyota is a decade behind other automakers in that department. The buffeting thing is hilarious and I hope toyota is thoroughly embarrassed by that.

At 6'5" I'm not sure I'd fit in one, and I think I'd miss the stinger's practicality, but it's a really cool and unique car.

Nice. As someone who will need 4-doors for a while longer (kids), a little jealous..

Things I hate compared to the Stinger:

- No 360 cam
- No ventilated seats
- No easy entry/exit
- No hands free access to the hatch (Supra doesn't even have a button on the rear, you have to use key fob or button on inside of driver door)
- No Android Auto
I have a lengthy thread on weighing my options between the Supra and new Stinger GT.

Even did the test drive on both 2.0 and 3.0. Must say, as quick as that thing is, the Trans blew me away more than the engine power. That being said, I guess you have not spent time on the MKV Supra forum........

That list should be twice as long(according to the forum) BUT the BIG WHINE on that site is that after a certain build date, the ECU cannot be unlocked for tunning!!!!!!! Cannot believe the crying going on in that forum!!!!

yeah yeah. We've heard that before
Well don't worry, Bosch has taken care of that decision for him. Also, no current downpipe options that don't cause CEL's. check comments above..... regardless, CONGRATS!!!! With all the little "bugs", my decision between the Supra and new Stinger GT will not get any easier. ENJOY!!!!

Toyota has become a bean counting galore. Just look at Lexus. Still using the same deivetrain and platform since 2005! They've become irrelevant anyway.

Roughly 9 months ago I purchased a used 2019 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD in ceramic silver with red interior. It is a wonderful car, but I decided to move onto something else.

Last weekend I picked up a brand new 2021 GR Supra 3.0 Premium in turbulence grey:

Very nice choice!!

Lack of sunroof keeps me away from the Supra. Otherwise, a fantastic machine!

Nice BMW...er, I mean, Toyota.

Seriously, super awesome car.

But it really is a BMW but with Toyota reliability which is awesome. When BMW developed the new Supra, Toyota tested every part of the car and required every part to be up to Toyota reliability standards. If the parts did not pass, BMW had to improve them until they did pass.
