I know what I want, a 2022 Ascot Green GT-line AWD with Sun and Sound package and Homelink mirrors and black leather interior.

Waiting to see what incentives Kia puts on it, but I think its a realistic estimate that, with negotiation and incentives, I should be able to pick one up for around $34k OTD.

I've never bought a new car before, especially one that isn't even available yet. I tried messaging my local Kia dealer, and they had no clue what I was talking about, thought I was looking for a 2022 "Optima" (shouldn't it be called a K5?).

Is there a way I can start negotiating and making sure the dealer orders in the car I want w/ the features I want for the price I want, even though the GT-line isn't out yet? So all I have to do when it gets here is test drive it, inspect it, and then buy?

All you can do is try. Just the color alone is going to make this quest problematic, it seems to me. :P

Ascot green....is that a new colour?

I love that color on the new Stingers. Probably one of my favorite colors if I am being honest...

@glhfddka

If you're going for a price of around $34k otd why not fork over a few more grand (maybe $2k - $4k depending on where you are and luck with negotiation) and pick up a 2020/2021 GT-RWD ? Are you dead set on AWD or the new color?

Good luck btw! :D

I think he’s just looking for the whole package overall of what the 2022 stinger entails. That new 2.5t engine is no slouch and looks like it will definitely cramp some of the 3.3t’s thunder in regards to sales.

Best of luck to OP because I’m sure half the Kia salesman across the country don’t even know the new 2022 stinger changed anything at this point lol.

Yep, 2.5t, the color and logo, the better infotainment, LED lights.

Really the only thing separating the 2022 GT-line from my ideal car would be ventilated seats and a manual transmission. I'd have to go up to the GT2 in the 2022 for ventilated seats, with no manual transmission, and it isn't worth spending that much extra money just for that one feature.

And I live in a place w/ potentially rough winters, so AWD is nice. I don't think any of the dealers even had any RWD options on their lots in the region for the 2020 and 2021 model year Stingers.

If you're ordering directly through the site then you can have the option for RWD.

I will emphasize that tires are more important than drivetrain. Having winter tires on a RWD car is better than summer tires in an AWD car when it comes to driving in snow or on ice.

It is however easier to pick up a set of snows and put it on your AWD, than it is to pick up an AWD and put it on your RWD :D

Christ... I sent emails to a bunch of other dealers in the area and it seems everyone is clueless.

One dealer saying they only have 2020 models left in Ascot Green (wonder how?). Another saying 2022 model Stingers won't be available until Q3 this year. And another ignoring the fact that I wanted a Stinger, and is trying to pitch me toward a K5 instead.

Welcome................................. to Kia sales/service experience!!! ;):p

Don’t get a RWD Stinger. Just trust me. Don’t do it. That is my only regret and my RWD is fairly fast. However, it took a TON of work that AWD Stingers just wouldn’t need.

AWD is just better on the Stinger. There I said it. Don’t make the same mistake I did. I really like my car but the only thing I would trade it for is AWD and I don’t live in a cold climate state.

why? :(

I test drove both RWD and AWD and found the RWD version much more fun to drive... was cheaper with better fuel-economy too...

After getting the modding bug fairly quickly, I agree with Travis, wish I got the AWD. It's so fast, but just hard to get off the line! I want AWD too, but not enough to trade it in! Can't wait for the North Carolina temps to get above 80 so I can start hammering it again!

It is fun and may be quicker around a track, driven by a professional, but when this thing starts pushing over 400HP to the wheels, it's just a lot to cope with. Winter's been so long I can't even remember what it feels like to get on it in 1st and 2nd gear.

Oh for sure!

I believe I said that earlier in this post or in another post when people were comparing RWD vs AWD on different Stinger platforms.

I think if someone wants to push a solid 400hp+ to the wheels then you practically NEED to have AWD on the Stinger. I think if people are fine with having under 400hp to the wheels then RWD is perfectly fine.

I am not at all a professional driver, I would say pretty average, but I really do enjoy the feel of RWD on my car. It is much heavier than my E36 was but it's so nice to be back in RWD where you can throw the car around and still act more silly. I love it! :D

yes, I think stock it is a great package. I should have left it alone, LOL. meth going in next week. going to need new tires in a couple months! the feel of being pushed rather than pulled is pretty cool no doubt.

Jeez that is going to be a fun rocket!!!! :D

I get excited from the push even on a stock GT-RWD with summer tires... would love to see what an extra 50 to 100 horses plus extra torque feels like haha! :D

That's the weird part, it just feels normal now. At first Jb4, map two with intakes and it seems crazy, then you get used to it and you want more. Good Luck OP, sorry for taking over your thread.
