Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Looking to buy the jb4, that’s the only engine mod I plan on doing. What else do I need to buy with it, plugs? Also, what is a realistic gain with this one mod? I always run 93 btw.

Bluetooth module and fuel wires.
Expect around +70whp in Map2.

Gapped plugs are highly recommended. Terry recommends densos gapped to .022. They are available along with the JB4 at StingerStore and BMS. There is an HKS option but I know less about it, so you'll have to do some research or ask someone who uses them. Gapping is very simple and you can change your own plugs if you're handy at all. Installing the JB4 is also fairly easy even if you aren't a "car guy".

93 octane should be very solid for map 2. xot is on the money. You'll want fuel wires and the bluetooth attachment.

I started getting a P0100 error code today. What could be wrong?

Generic lookup says MAF fault, but there is no MAF sensor. Maybe a TMAP/MAP sensor fault if a connection is loose or OBDII not snug?

I've checked connections a couple times, no luck. I plug the sensors in without the JB4 and it goes away. I started after adding the TiAL but I don't know how that cause it.

So must be related. If you unplug the JB4 board all the connections in there tight? Still comes up with no OBDII installed? What about on map0?

Opened the box, looked fine. Reconnected it to the sensors and unplugged the obd2. No check engine light, everything seemed fine. Plugged the obd2 cable back in and it's not showing any data on the gauges. I inspected the cable and I don't see any damage. I unplugged and replugged at the JB4, nothing. Could the cable have been fried? Or is it something on the board?

To give background when this happened.... I had just pulled out of my neighborhood, barely on the gas, not in boost at all, a bunch of warning lights came on. Crash avoidance, auto hold, check engine, traction control and the car would only go 18 mph.

Sounds like you need help beyond what we can do in the thread so email in details and we'll get you sorted.

Take the Jb4 off and if the problems is gone then you know what the problem is....Return the JB4 and get a new one.....dont drive the car like that....

To be clear, all the other warning lights went away after I restarted the car the first time. The only lingering light was the check engine. I unplugged and replugged the obd2 cable again restarted the car and the gauges work. As of now everything seems back to normal. I'll take it out tomorrow for a short drive to see if anything happens again. It may just be the box slid and bumped something and everything freaked out, not sure. Scared the crap out of me for a minute though.

It's all bump proof. But if the OBDII comes loose then that may trigger a code and the JB4 will disable until the car is turned off, goes to sleep, and back on to reset, as a safety feature. We can't have it expecting CANbus data and none is coming in from the loose connection.

I've got one of the first boxes and never had a loose connection, nothing changed. Hopefully just a one time occurrence.

I used a handheld code reader and it pulled a P0600 code as well, which is communication to ECU disrupted and explains all the other warning lights. I had the car in last weekend for the wiring harness inspection recall so the ECU was removed for that. So, the best I can figure is that the main ECU harness wasn't seating perfectly by the dealer. I unplugged the ECU, OBD2 cable, map sensor, tmap sensor, reconnected everything and all seems fine. Does not seem to have anything to do with the JB4. Thanks for helping me troubleshoot Terry, much appreciated!

FYI they don’t remove the ecu for the harness inspection .... just so you know all they do is put a rubber grommet in .... if you were to have damage on the harness then they would replace it .... not sure where you for that information from ? Did you physically see them remove the ecu ? Just curious because I was there and watch them do the work for that recall ....

I may be wrong, but someone posted the Kia instructions for the maintenance to be done for this task. From memory, it was much more detailed than a quick visual inspection and a grommet installation. Several components are removed for better access to the affected area. I think the ECU was one of them.

I am 99% certain the official inspection procedure that was posted on these forums started with removal of the ECU to give better access.
