Brand New Item! Vintage K Metal Skin Overlays

Is there any promise that the newer K badge with a blue portion will be available like this in the future? Thanks!

Interesting. They're thin but quite sturdy - but it's probably best to put firm pressure at the edges and maybe just a little at the center.
I think I agree with this advice. The larger (rear) badge does come with an "extra" 3M tape; and I wondered what that is for, since both overlays are already equipped with the tape. Is the second elipse of tape supposed to be suck on top of the already applied one, to fill up the hollow? I wonder if putting two layers of tape inside the rear overlay will make it stick up around the edges? Right now the edges come right down flush with the chrome border on the KIA badge. (Not quite so nice a fit in front, though.)

The last thing I want is for you to be stuck with a product you're not satisfied with. Considering these are simply overlays, you're welcome to a refund if you send them back. Including shipping both ways. If it's a "they're not perfect but I like them enough to keep them" situation, I'll be comfortable if you decide to hold onto them.

For the life of me I can’t get the rear overlay to stay on. The top center portion gets a gap that spreads and then I can peel the entire thing off. I used the adhesion promoter and the gasket too. I had these previously from another seller. Tried 3 times now and it’s always the same.

Please send them back for a full refund.

I've been selling badges for about a year now. One thing I've learned is that the same product will exceed one customer's expectations - but fall short of another's. I have 30 sets of these metal skin overlays. I'll be evaluating customer experiences over the next month or two to figure out whether or not to keep them in my store...

Thanks for the option. I like the way they look brand new. They went on okay. "Nothing in life has any business being perfect." So, looking good from standing distance is good enough. After they weather a winter? Who can say? By then it will be too late? :D They stay on.

A question: did you carefully go over the entire KIA badge with isopropyl alcohol? Because unless the KIA badge surface is absolutely whistle clean, you are asking for trouble with tape. I don't know what "adhesion promoter" is. But you'll probably tell me it is a surface cleaner that beats isopropyl alcohol six ways to Sunday. In which case, all that can be said is "It's Kismet!"

That's generally the way I feel about things. Makes sense to me. :)

I'm sure there will be variations in the future - if this version sells well. If this version doesn't sell, I doubt the manufacturer will have any interest in creating new types...

As you can see, the long edges of the hood badge skin lifted during the winter. But the skin is still secure enough that I fear ruining it trying to get it off. And as the third pic shows, it still passes the "five feet away rule" (the pic is actually only c. 40" away). The rear badge skin is still perfectly adhered all the way around. They stay! (for the time being)

(I tried to review and rate it on the Stinger Shop page. But I don't see how to add a review. I'd give it four stars; five before winter, but not now.)

There's really no reason these things should lift up after a winter. They may be a new product for the Stinger, but they've been being used for years on other cars - lasting through winters. This isn't typical behavior. I'd put a little clear silicone behind them and restick the area that's coming up.

Someone else said that they hand tweaked the front badge skin to increase the concavity before reapplying with new tape, and then the edges fitted flush all the way around. When I put these on last October, I noticed that the rear skin was a slightly better fit than the hood skin. Perhaps the hood skin isn't quite formed flush all the way around. Anyway, if/when I take it off, I'll tweak it by hand and make sure that the long sides are down. Then I'll line it with fresh 3M tape. But, that might be a while out.

I posted on another thread my experience, both my front and back badge lifted within a day, top and bottom.
Back one was far worse, I removed and by hand bent the top and bottom inwards a little then applied new 3m tape
Been perfect since.

Must have been you I was thinking about: but backwards from my experience. My rear badge skin fits just fine.
