Bolt on's, no tune

Like everyone has stated, nope no check engine light. Nothing weird or strange. It is slightly louder, especially on a cold start. Nothing objectionable. (My wife hasn't noticed yet). Just a bit more growl... Very happy with them! I do wonder if it will pass the emissions sniffer test. My 95 Formula LT1 would pass emissions with no cat at all...as long as it was warmed up.

Plugs and JB4 with fuel wires in hand, just no time to install them. If anything strange happens, I'll report back.

Thanks that's good to know. I had an LT1 TA with straight pipes as well, never had it tuned but the check engine definitely came on. I guess the difference with that was that it had an O2 sensor after the cats. I put 60k on it that way before it finally spun a bearing.

There are no O2 sensors on secondary cats. These are not primary downpipes.

This is the confusion with the community calling these damn midpipes downpipes lol Down pipes should be the pipes that COME DOWN from the turbo. we need a Sticky for lingo used here lol.

Blame this one on the Vendor because they called them Downpipes which carries the implied definition that they connect directly to the turbo manifold which they do not. The primary cat section is very short and basically just includes a cast flange, enough pipe for the O2 sensor, the cat and enough pipe for the second O2 sensor and then another flange. Note that this section of the exhaust is the single most restrictive part. Just look at Tork's videos where they show the differences in the inlet/outlet diameters and the fact that they don't even match between each bank.

Yes I had to install a post cats oxygen sensors simulators to my former 97 Trans am LT1in order to avoid the check engine warning light.

Go ahead and try to hide a tune from a dealer. They'll be able to check injector rates and call bs on the ECU or piggyback. I wish i was wrong, i'd tune my car in heartbeat.

They can not void a warranty for a aftermarket part. Only the parts the were affected by the aftermarket part can have a claim denied for repair, they also need to prove this cause the issue.

Fact is if you mod your car pay for the shit you broke lol. If you are running a piggyback and you blow your engine dont try to remove everything and take it in to see if you can SCAM the dealer.

You can drive your car onto the showroom floor, pop the hood, and pull a Piggyback out of it and they still can't "immediately void your warranty." There are laws that protect consumers against such things. That horse has had the shit beat out of him all over this forum.

This and every other forums, The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is in fact in place but it would be really easy for a dealer to point to even a CAI and say that it caused a blown turbo. It doesn't take a lawyer to figure that out.

If you haven't been around long enough to see dealers double dipping on repairs you haven't been around the car game long enough. They'll blame the customer so they pay for repairs, then turn around and tell [Car Maker] it's a warranty issue and be paid twice.

Ya I just never done business with shady dealer shops. If I dont like the service I am getting Ill go elsewhere.

FYI I have had 2 complete motors, a trans and a plethora of other warranty work done with Hyundai and Kia. I have never had any issues with the dealers I frequent, but as a family we have bought about 10+ cars from these 2 dealers.

It sucks that it's something we have to deal with. i drove an hour out of my when i have 3 dealers within 20 minutes of me just because it was the only honest dealership i could find.

I call it karma “evening” out things with the dealerships. They are one of the biggest crooks I have seen in business, adding points to people’s interest rate etc. it ALWAYS catches up. I don’t mind being the guy that makes that happen.

I went to trade in my 2016 WRX, the dealer wanted to give me below BB, keep my 3.5k wheels, +3k worth of amps and subs. The honest dealer (concord,ca), gave me BB, had my stereo removed for me! wheels swapped! and had them all waiting for me 3 days after i dropped my car off. All while giving me every rebate he could on my GT2. Businesses like that i'll go out of my way to support, others not so much.
