Battery Maintenance

When you have a moment could you kindly post a pic of the pigtail connectors? Thx so much!
Sorry, must have missed this when you originally posted. You should have received pigtail 'ring' connectors with your CTEK - the models I've seen all come with two quick disconnects, one for the ring connectors and one for clamps.

You can split and/or lengthen them as needed. I clipped off the ring connectors on mine and soldered on larger ones as they weren't big enough to connect to the bolts I needed. (Fully sealed afterward with heat shrink tubing, of course). Once installed, connecting the charger simply requires plugging it in via the quick connect.

CTEK also sells ready-made quick connect accessories with larger ring connectors, extension cables, charge indicators, etc.

For anyone using the CTEK chargers or similar, has anyone done a permanent pigtail setup? If so, can you share a photo?

I found this short YouTube video (search for "Stinger - jump start") showing the remote battery connection points under the hood. I used this to locate where to connect my Battery Tender to the car.

Or you could just look in your owners manual. You'd be surprised what information the manufacturer provides.

This should be added to the contract of almost everything sold.

is it safe to connect the battery tender plus 1.25A to the stinger through the under the hood's jump starting connections??? I'm afraid to try but too lazy to disconnect the battery to isolate it through the trunk...

Yep. I use the hood terminals with a battery tender in the winter.

Has anyone attched ring connectors from a pigtail to the under hood charging points (passenger side) in the car?

The negative post on the fender seems clear. The raised positive tab in the fuse box is clear, but it's not obvious to me which bolt to attach the positive ring to. There are several bolt heads that seem connected to the positive tab via the plate it's attached to, but I'm reluctant to just hook one up lest I send current someplace it shouldn't go.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone might have done this, and can share exactly where they attached the positive ring connector.

Thank you!

I’ve done it but decided to hardwire it at the trunk where the battery sits. I’m just afraid I might short circuit something there because of the fuses.

Thanks! I'm hoping to to connect a pigtail in the engine compartment because it would be easier than running a long extension cord to the trunk, but like you, I'm nervous about sending current somewhere in the fuse box where it's not meant to go. There would be no upside to that.

I have the Noco charger and bought an Noco extension cable.
