Love it! Thank you! You made me laugh and I appreciate that. You are right. I just need to relax and be thankful that they may know how to change the oil. LolThis horse is dead. No matter how much you continue beating it - it's still gonna be dead.
There must be dozens of threads about ISG (Idle Stop and Go) and the weird things it does. There are simply so many inputs to the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) system and so many combinations of different conditions that must be met for the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) to show an 'OFF' amber light, a green / amber / none, icon in the HUD, a green / amber / none, icon in the LCD panel, a green / amber / none, icon in the tach. {I've never seen the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) icon appear in the speedometer, but I won't be at all surprised if some day one does.} When all its conditions are met, it works great and may save a little gas. When the conditions aren't met, it quits stopping the engine. Kia dealers have enough trouble trying to change the oil. Deciding whether or not the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) is working properly is so far above their pay grade, it is pointless to harass them about it.
Please just accept it as one of the charming eccentricities of the car, and enjoy what a great vehicle it is.
Nope!!! You are in great company! Join the club!!! LolHad my car for three weeks now I turn that switch off bc I dont like it I get out get back in my car and the switch turns on by itself in wth i turned it off. Thought i was the only one experiencing this issue.
This thread made me LOL!!! Not because of the issues, but because of exactly that... it's been talked about so much and how odd it can be. I have it do some freaky stuff, but I got me a system...I turn up the radio and ignore looking at it. Unless the A blinks at me frantically, then I dance in my seat (I jk). But our idle stoppy thingy is just in it's own world sometimes.
I bought my 2018 GT2 AWD in February. I experienced the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) for the first time two days ago, at two consecutive stop lights but not the first 7 or the last 5 lights. Got'a tell ya, it freaked me out at first LOL... After driving my Rover for the past 26 years, I wasn't expecting a car to die without reason. I didn't pay attention of seeing a green A, I was only eyeballing the rpm with ??????'s running through my head. So at the first light, I pressed the Start button thinking my car died... Well... as you may have guessed... LOL I ended up turning the car off. My seat lowers and the steering rises... LOL I totally forgot about the ISG (Idle Stop and Go). Thankfully I was able to restart the car just as the light turned green. So, it appears I had the right conditions for the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) to work like it should... it was well into 95F degrees that day. I may have a light braking foot, so I'll try with a heavier foot to see if the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) enables. But all-n-all, I get the solid amber A when I press the brake and then goes away when I take my foot off the brake. It doesn't bother me if it does or does not work every time I come to a stop.
I'm okay with it. Took a while to get used to it. There are so many conditions that must be met for it to work that very often it doesn't. It really seemed like it was completely random. But when it chooses to work, it works just fine and saves a tiny amount of gas. Sadly it apparently has to be set to default 'ON' so it can be used when determining the mpg for advertising purposes. It is a shame that it couldn't be set to default to 'OFF' for those that don't like it, but the rest of the car is so great, it's a minor thing.
Usually the "A" is orange which indicates its off
Same issues Alicia, Dealership is literally no help!I have a 2020 three week old Stinger GT with less than 1000 miles. I’ve taken the car back to service twice already having issues with the auto shut off. Tomorrow I’m taking it back again.
I referred to the owners manual. The car is in Comfort mode. At start up the light is off which means auto shut off is on. When I press the brake the orange A with a cone appears on the dash. Randomly the car turns the auto shut off, off. A green A in a cone appears on the dash. When I put the car in park, the orange light is on which means it shut the auto shut off off again.
Has anyone else experienced this? The dealer doesn’t know what the problem is. It’s annoying that it randomly shuts itself on and off.
If anyone on this forum could help, I’d greatly appreciate it.

The car can't always auto shut off due to demands on the system, such as the air conditioner running, or the engine hasn't warmed up enough on a cold day. One thing I have noticed is that when I'm stopped at a particularly long light, the car restarts before I go, so it seems like there might be a timer on how long it stays shut off, or possibly the system suddenly demanded power again for something.I have a 2020 three week old Stinger GT with less than 1000 miles. I'm with you....I'm a "Button Pusher" every single time I start the car!!Now I am amused, at your expense I am afraid. This is my first-ever brand new car. I came from a '94 Voyager, with a manual transmission no less: twelve and a half years I had that old school ride: my granddaughter didn't even know how to put her window up and down because she had never seen a crank before.Well, I get the GT1 AWD Stinger, and one of the very first things I noticed was this engine shutting off at traffic stops thing. WTH!? My wife and I were flummoxed. I was reading the OM of course, assiduously. When I got to the part about ISG (Idle Stop and Go) it was like alien wisdom to me: I had never heard of such a fangled thang.
Now alerted, I paid closer attention, wondering if this was a good/cool thing. Right away I disliked it, now that I knew it was deliberate, and I had no control over when and where and how long it would "save gas". Heh.
My decision was to get in the habit of pushing the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) button, which (counter-intuitively) turns the light ON, while turning ISG (Idle Stop and Go) OFF. And, 99% of the time, I do remember to turn it OFF. I have no use for it. And it seems that neither do you. Make pushing that little ISG (Idle Stop and Go) button the first thing you do after staring the engine.

Each time the car is started the Idle Stop & Go Resets, meaning it will in the "ON" modeHad my car for three weeks now I turn that switch off bc I dont like it I get out get back in my car and the switch turns on by itself in wth i turned it off. Thought i was the only one experiencing this issue.
