ATQ Subframe Collars

Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you to modify anything, punch holes in anything or to butchur your Stinger in any way, shape or form.

The tabs do not puncture or damage your collars. Those tabs have room to sit flush in the cut out slots.

They are not designed or fitted for you to modify anything.

When making the instructions and installing the product. We did not take into account that some people would overthink the most basic of things and over complicate the most basic installation.

You cannot account for that.

K8 stinger store even has a full blown DIY from their sponsored Stinger as to how these are correctly installed.

If you choose to wing it, ignore Instructions and decide to think like an engineer..that's on you.

Please.

If you dont have a clue to what you are doing..please take it to a professional!!

Some products have a specific installation guide for a reason. Generally the developers know the best way to do the installation.

I've read some of the comments on installation and I want to slam my head Into a wall for the amount of errors and misinformation.

How would you guys like this explained better so that you dont make mistakes, get confused or butchure a level 1 installation?

I do apologize if this response seems aggressive.

Its extremely aggravating seeing others post bad information that causes others headaches. Especially on something as simple as this.

Do we need to make another video with detailed explanations of what NOT to do? Or how those plates and tabs work?

Btw there is ZERO need for any form of "cut outs" to the collars.

If you need visual explanations please let me know.

You can drive your head to a wall all you want. But having this thread and us making all these guesses and some by professional mechanics is because your instructions are lacking in explaining this point.

I suggest you make a video showing us exactly how the Ugga Dugga process is done.

The confusion shows there's a greater level of explanation, documentation, and possibly visual representation required.

Yes, for aftermarket parts you often have to "write documentation for monkeys". Not because anyone is actually a monkey, but simply because, as you put it, people often over-think things, particularly new things they don't have experience with.

The rear end shuffle on broken/loose/changing surfaces was the worst point of the Stinger when I first drove it. I am glad that this kit helps with that. I am mechanically minded and I reckon I will have a go at fitting these myself (with a qualified mechanic close by), but yes, please provide fool-proof documentation (at which point the world will invent a better fool, I know)...

K8Stinger has a DIY video right on the item page... the video shows it being done, just FYI

I have seen the video before I installed the collars and we did the exact same thing and didn’t end up with what ATQ is saying. The tabs have nowhere to go and we were left with a gap between the plate and the collar even after torquing it to 125lbs. The only way to have the plate to sit flush with the collar is to trim the tabs.

Anyways let see the Ugga Dugga video, maybe there is another way.

I watched the install video several times it indicated that the factory orientation of the plate was to be maintained, which was previously handled by the tabs. I read the instructions several times. Nowhere did it mention that the tabs existed, that there wasn't anywhere for them to go, that the factory plate would have to be deformed via the the impact wrench & torque applied.

While Tomi thinks that it is perfectly normal to do this others are unaware and want to make sure that they aren't doing something incorrectly. Especially if the plate does not sit flush or is crooked upon installation as Stinger mentioned happened to him.

BTW, I trimmed my tabs with an angle grinder. It's on me ;)

Also, every other aspect of the video was great, it helped a lot. Since there were no pictures in the install instructions seeing what you were to do with the rear front was helpful.

We might have a stinger in this month.

I will take some photos or make a video for you guys :)

Here is another video for reference guys

Good video but am I the only one that is bothered by how he pronounces chassis? Also kept calling them washers when to me they are collars. It's like those people that interchange clip and magazine thinking they are the same thing.

Yes I even posted on his video about it. His videos are a lot of hype and not much substance, which I guess is the state of YouTube these days.

I usually keep it positive on this site. This rant is uncalled for. Any instructions that include "Ugga dugga" as a torque spec deflates any ground you have for chastising us. The tabs DO interfere. The collar does NOT FIT between them to avoid contact and remain. The collar slides over the stud and removes the gap as your product claims ( I feel ATQ makes excellent kits and I am a fan of). To then place the plate with the tabs back on the stud, over the collar, The tabs sit on the flat. They will not straddle the collar and fit into the groves.

Please feel free to tell us plainly that it is ok to have contact ONLY on the tabs against the collar. And nevermind the 1/4 inch gap it leaves. Or maybe your test vehicle had a larger diameter between the tabs than some of ours do.

I'm sure your patience has been tried. Remember that no one blamed your product for being a waste of money or poorly made. ATQ = quality in my book. This just seemed a personal attack on those of us who didn't want to error on something as trivial as properly fastening two of the four rear section bolts.

I ran into this issue as well. Truth is that they won't have that 1/4" gap after you torque down that nut. The tabs will be smashed into and cut the flat part of the collar because it is much softer. I know this because this is what happened to mine. I wish I took pictures but it was late at night and I was just glad to get that nut torqued on. I ended up putting the sleeve on the outside of the cover plate after me and my neighbor spent about an hour getting those tabs back into place (that's some strong steel!). I think those rear rear sleeves either need to be longer and put on between the cover plate and the nut or there needs to be a cutout in the sleeve to allow the tabs to sink into position. Those tabs in the cover plate are there to keep the cover plate from turning and the current design prevents the tabs feom doing that.

AHHHHH!!!!! Finally starting to see the confusion!

I might have made a mistake on the DIY!

Leave that plate in the REAR REAR and install the collar using the nut.

I'm confused. Is the VV video accurate on the rear rear?

Can I get a replacement collar for the one that was damaged during installation?
