ASD

So Active Engine Sound is independent of drive level (i.e. comfort, sport, eco)? So you can theoretically drive in Eco mode but have AES set to Strengthend :D. On my current car ride if I am in Sport mode, there's more faux sound pumped into the cabin, but that's the extent of controlling the sound.

Question: I have the base model and though the 2.0L engine supports AES the menu do not offer it as an option under CUSTOM. Does anyone know how to turn AES on for the Stringer base model?

Another thought is that, since the link between engine load and RPM seems to be in the system, perhaps an aftermarket app could hijack the input and provide a wider range of choices. Sorry I'm not a programmer or I could make a fortune. :)

I don't believe this is possible. The only cars it does this in are with the upgraded sound systems.. I doubt the base sound system has the necessary logic.

Fake engine sounds need to be able to be turned OFF completely in any mode at any/all times. They should be an option, not mandatory.

"Additionally, there's a lot of sound isolation all around the passenger cell, which called for a similar Active Sound Design system similar to what's in the Kia Stinger. Basically, Genesis is pumping "real" engine noise through the speakers to give you the V6 turbo experience without any interference from lesser noises. Pretty much everybody does this nowadays due to the fact that you can't have both the grunt and refinement. If you don't like the idea, the good news is that the Genesis system is not only customizable depending on driving mode, but can also be switched off completely. Having said that, the system didn't bother me."

This is from a Hyundai G70 review:

Switched off completely...

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Have we confirmed how this sound is brought into the cabin? The white papers make it sound like it’s through the speakers but is that confirmed.

My previous car had a device uber the hood cowl that produced the sound and could be unplugged.

If it’s through the speakers doe turning off the head unit turn off the sound?

Great question.

I am still astonished that there is not clear documentation or understanding how the ASD works, or even if it exists!

Does it include noise cancellation?

Does it operate with audio system on or off?

Is it synthetic (even if based on recordings of the real engine) or something like @DaJackson mentions above? How hard is it to confirm these things?
