ARK GRiP Exhaust Review

Nowadays, factory exhaust systems are well made, and the benefit having an aftermarket catback exhaust system will create a better exhaust note, but you will not see too much increase in power gains. Downpipes will definitely provide a bigger increase in HP and torque gains. I would love to see more dyno charts from other Stinger owners and not from companies that are developing or manufacturing products for the Stinger.

Send me an exhaust I could go to a dyno spot.

Same! Got a spot just up the way from me! Send me one (the DP wouldn’t hurt either) I can install, one, test, throw the other in, test and bam! Real world results!

Hi Ozstung

I had the ARK Grip exhaust installed last Friday, I love the note of the exhaust. there is a bit of drone especially around the 1750rpm but it doesn't bother me that much, it didn't shake any of the console or resonate to badly inside the car . I took it for a 3 hour drive up to Wangarrata and then back again with some hard pulls getting it nice and hot and I believe it has either bedded in a bit or I'm getting use to the sound. I had the wife and kids in the car (not for the hard pulls) and they didn't seem bothered by it at all.

Overall really happy with the upgrade sounds great with the added boost im running. I would recommend this to others.

D-C thats great to hear im glad you didn't have that intial drone that i had. As i said it did quieten down a bit.

Yesterday i applied the Dynamat XL trunk sheets, i put it to floor only and managed to get around the spare wheel area was a bit of a job. Loaded up on pain killers for the back ( degenerative back issues) . I allowed quite a few hours and have in reserve a sheet of Dynaliner 6mm foam.

I haven't driven her yet, the test will come this afernoon when i drive the 54ks to work. Will post my findings tonight.

Just ordered My Ark Grip two days ago and theyll be put installed on the 29th (along with Ark lowering springs) and Ill post up my thoughts as well. I was in a Stinger with the Borla and the drone really was awful.

So I've had the Ark Grip exhaust for about 8 months now, and I've loved it the whole time! A little bit of drone like what others say, but nothing as bad as any other previous cars or exhaust systems I've had.

Yesterday I got to put on my SSR downpipes, and o man it just gets better! All things held equal, the downpipes make it the slightest bit louder (for example, driving in sport mode under normal acceleration, you hear the exhaust more now), but the drone is almost completely gone. Also in comfort if you keep your foot light around town it's actually more peaceful in the cabin.

I only went on the highway for a little bit to see what it was like, but the difference is almost not noticeable. Cruising from 65 to 80 is the same loudness but minus the drone. If you try to accelerate at highway speeds it is a little louder though, and some drone exists above 75 trying to accelerate or stay at speed going up hill. But overall I like it a lot more now.

Ok gave her a solid work out, reverberation has been reduced massively. Drone still exists but i say its been cut by 50-60%? It makes a difference i can now hear what im ment to be hearing. Enjoying the ride!

Great to hear you made a good improvement Ozstung.

I now have a back up plan if the drone gets too much for me

Cheers

Hi D-C , no i didn't take any photos of the install. Thought about it and theres not much really to see. Used 3 of the 5 sheets.

Fair enough Ozstung !!

Did you fill in around the spare tyre well ?

Cheers

Dyll
Sure did filled as much of the wheel well as physically possible without having to start on a fourth sheet. (Took three sheets all up)

Hey would you be able to post some videos of your exhaust? I have downpipes on my car and I can’t decide between the ark Jun Bl gt or the magnaflow. I want to hear the car but I don’t want it to be to loud. The Borla seems to load.

I can try next time I am home. I only have a Galaxy S7 to film with though so the sound quality will be eh at best.

Its different for me, since I have ultimate performance downpipe/midpipe with high flow cat and ark exhaust, drone can get pretty loud around 1500rpm-2000rpm. Dynamat, closed cellfoam, and mass loaded vinyl has helped, but im still getting some resonance within the cabin. Need to figure out where its coming from and apply more I guess.

Good luck with that, i couldn't tolerate it.
My local exhaust specialist moved the mid pipe to the front somewhat and added 2 extra resonators to a fabricated pipe. He also decreased the flow a little. All in all it worked.20190122_142041.webp 20190122_142750.webp 20190122_142750.webp
