Hey @Coast GT, I live in Newcastle, WA. In this context the WA means Washington, not to be confused with Western Australia.

Similar to Newcastle, NSW, Newcastle, WA started as a coal mining town; mining began here in the 1870s and continued until 1963. A total of 13 million tons were produced, much less than Newcastle, NSW.

It appears both of our Newcastles were named after Newcastle upon Tyne, in Northeastern England.
Hi, I didn’t know there’s a Newcastle in Washington, I’ve been to Glendale in LA many years ago on a visit to the US. Glendale is a suburb in Newcastle NSW. It’s in the greater Newcastle area, although is part of the Lake Macquarie City Council Local Government area and also where my high school was. People from Newcastle don’t tend to differentiate between the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Government areas, we’re all considered as being from Newcastle. It’s something that annoys the Lake Macquarie Council as they feel they don’t get the recognition that Newcastle gets, but the residents don’t care and just say they’re from Newcastle.

Big difference on the coal production. There’s not really much mining in Newcastle itself anymore, although there’s still a couple of underground mines running. The bulk of the coal we produce comes from large open cut mines in the Hunter Valley, north of Newcastle. The Port of Newcastle is the largest coal exporting port in the world. Generally it exports about 160 million tonnes of coal each year (give or take a few million). I don’t live in Newcastle anymore, but I’m only 45 minutes away. I plan on taking my Stinger for a run up there later today.

Newcastle is probably best known as a coal mining and steel producing town even though the BHP steelworks closed in 1999. People still refer to it as the Steel City.

That was me!:D

They used to call me Tiger, until the whole “cheating” thing came out. Still hear it every once and a while though.

Man, got to say, that is one ridiculously cute baby you have. Miss when mine were that age :p

Excuse my ignorance but can you elaborate what the meaning of “UAT/smoke test” is, I’m not familiar with this term.
Ah...nerdy way of saying a dry run I suppose. We tested, test passed with flying colors, on to the next.

Oh ok, thanks for clarifying, I figured it may have been “local” jargon, yes on to the next...

Next time, how about we meet up in the morning at the Golf Club at Newcastle take some pics with the gorgeous views as backdrop? Then we can go for a group run and come back to the clubhouse for a nice lunch.

If anyone from Lee Johnson, another local dealer and/or the regional KIA marketing people are monitoring this, here's an opportunity to apply your creativity and capture some great shots and video for promoting the Stinger. We will smile on camera for beers!
Good idea. Nice area, decent access to roads suitable for hooliganism (though I, of course, would never engage in such behavior), and more central to the region. How's September looking for everyone?

Thanks! We did so good on the first one, I’m terrified about the second one whenever that happens.
practise , practise , practise !!! :whistle::whistle::whistle::laugh:

Careful sxx 7 days in a row makes a hole week:whistle:

As Merlin would say "Pictures or it didn't happen".

Heading for a little cruise to lunch. Turns out I really SUCK at leading a group through traffic...I lived in Woodinville for 5+ years, so *almost* led the group very astray when muscle memory took the wheel and tried to take us the wrong way on 522. Caught it, late, but I do apologize.

That's ok, you only lost the 3 guys that drove the furthest to get there. Was ready for a cold beer anyway.;)
