Added Extended Warranty Question

One pro tip: If they've installed after market wheels, and you sign up for the wheel/tire protection plan, make sure it specifies your after market wheels! There should be a check box for you to check off. This was unchecked when I initially signed but caught it after 2nd review.

All really interesting. I put a deposit on a GT2 RWD yesterday, (in shipment, Ceramic Silver, $48.5, so a bit off MSRP.) The dealership is pitching the usual add-ons (e.g., Xzilon Green protectant @ $900) plus the various vehicle protection and road hazard / tire and wheel protection planz. The terms for the vehicle plans were vague (TBD), the hazard/tire plan was pitched at $795 for 5 years "deluxe" coverage. I can live without either, but will consider a joint buy of Platinum vehicle plan with Deluxe tire plan. I'd appreciate any advice on a reasonable price/offer for that combined protection. Based on the above, sounds like that could go as high as $4K (for both) -- which I won't pay. Appreciate any input as to what's a reasonable offer for those packages.
I negotiated the 10yr/100,000 Platinum down to $1,500 on my new Stinger. Have been purchasing factory (not third-party) extended warranties for the past 30 years and have never paid "asking price." There is a huge markup on these products and my comment to the finance guy is always, "Do you want to make something or do you want to make nothing?" The main reason to get the Platinum 10yr/100,000 is to get all the electronics/infotainment items covered because they are only warrantied for 3yr/36,000. I, personally, have never felt the Tire/Wheel plans worth it due to the various requirements/conditions.

Congratulations, @Stang! I look forward to seeing pictures when you bring it home (if all works out). Welcome to the community! And thank you for signing up...

I'm leasing mine so I took the $700 one you were speaking of which covers dings scratches wheels I don't think it was the tires it might but I take that one , and find out how long you have to purchase the bumper-to-bumper 10 years hundred thousand mile which should run around 2500 bucks . I know if I decide to buy at the end of three years I will probably buy it sooner to get most of the $7600 rebate I will purchase that plan , but I think I have up to three years to do it so , it should be about 1500 bucks . Ask how Long you have , to purchase that plan and take it that far it should be a lot cheaper than 2500 bucks.

What exactly does the tire and wheel package cover?

Also, with regard to the "Audio/Entertainment" Warranty of 3yr/36K, can one of the dealers confirm the other "electronics" are indeed included here? I am still trying to understand how Land Departure or HUD fall under the "Audio/Entertainment" Warranty.

IF the electronics are only for 3Yr/36K then there is definite benefit to the platinum package as i dont imagine a HUD unit or land departure camera to be on the "cheap" side of the parts spectrum...not to mention install and calibration thereafter. $1500 seems to be a reasonable price for a further 7yr/64K...

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
From the Kia brochure I received, Wheel & Tire package repairs or replaces damaged tires from road hazards, replaces wheels only if the wheel cannot be balanced, will not hold air, or damage has affected structural integrity of the wheel. Excludes cosmetic or structural damage from collisions with curbs or 'abnormal wear and tear.' Also excludes accidents, theft, vandalism, misuse, or negligence. The Deluxe plan (pitched to me @ $795 for 5 years of coverage) specifies $40 charge per repair limit, $5K maximum for life of contract.

i purchased a 2019 Kia Stinger from ron tonkin kia in gladstone oregon & purchased bumper to bumper 10 year coverage (Principal Auto Care is the vendor Tonkin Kia's extended warranty is through - I got max wrap coverage) and i negotiated the price down to $1375. Initially, they tried to sell it for $3000+, when i declined they offered for $2000+, I declined again and they offered for $1375 and I accepted.

It's nice to have that peace of mind - and now you don't need to think about it again for the next ten years...

I purchased the same bumper to bumper 10 year coverage on a new Kia Stinger (Ron Tonkin, gladstone oregon - the eextended warranty is from Principal Auto Care & sold by Tonkin Kia) for $1375. They initially tried to charge a lot more & I declined until they eventually brought it down to $1375. I've read in consumer reports that these policies should not cost more than$1500. I'm not sure if its worth it or not because since Stingers are new on the market, their reliability hasn't been established.

How long of an extended warranty did you get for this. In Canada there are 3 levels of extended warranty, is it the same for you?

The warranty extends bumper to bumper coverage from 5 years to 10 years, the same amount of time as the powertrain warranty.
