ADD-W1 v3.3 Dual Inlet

For those keeping score at home, that's one.
Here we go again. It’s one that bothered to comment in your thread. It’s one that did the research on the unit to pass to the manufacturer. It’s one that wanted that catch can to actually work. It’s one that gave credit to that manufacturer for other platforms where it functioned. It’s one that took pictures and videos to send to the manufacturer showing the failed parts. Add the appropriate details.

The mathematical approximation of the above: 1x1x1x1x1=1

Thank you for the feedback.

In short, the dual ADD w1 can is good. The dual inlet can is trash. The company is fine, but that particular product that was supposedly designed with the 3.3TT in mind is no good.

Check valves not withstanding, I’m sure some other folks who have ran both the 3.3 version and another vendor will tell you that the 3.3 version didn’t catch anything in comparison to other vendors.

Once again, I wouldn’t touch the 3.3 version with a 10 ft pole.
Thanks for the links I will read through them. Those check value issues are very concerning though and I might just upgrade mine just in case... Do you find that the braided hoses helped at all?

I'm pulling mine off tomorrow (~300 mile mark and I live in the PNW where it doesn't stop raining Oct to March), just to see how full it is. I think I might also pull the check valves off and do a quick inspection.

As of right now I'm going to keep it on, just be on the look out for issues with it.

If anything change out the cheap check valves. If the bearings do let go, they have to go somewhere. Best case scenario is they flow into the can. Worst case scenario is they ping around your turbo housing like a pinball machine.

@RUFFSTUFF

My cans are of Chinese origin and they have baffles and oil filter installed. In respect to O-rings, I am asking the technician who does my oil change ever 5000 km, to save the used O-rings from the oil filters, to use for my OCCs. Works for me. It may work for others too.
$6 for an O-ring - for $2 more I bought the oil filter including O-ring & washer from the dealer.

I also complained, I’m just not going to reinvestigate and furnish links. They’re out there across multiple forum websites. 10 or 15 minutes of Google searching will net results.

My only intent is to help someone get the most for their money. There are much better options is all. I wish I had made the right purchase the first time.

The ADD catch can itself is not as nice of a design as Mishimoto, or SxthElement, NGT, etc.

Look at what the ADD can by itself costs (outside of the kit) and then decide if the two check valves, bracket and hose equate to over $160 extra when the can doesn’t even have a brass diffuser. They don’t even include the correct sized hardware. Shows me as a company they don’t care much. Is M6 hardware in short supply? I found the proper sized fender washer and went with a nylock from Home Depot. Ultimately, I went with the Sxth Element dual can system.
Honestly, a single can on the PCV side is where the focus should be 0271B067-BD0B-4087-B91C-CC180CA8129A.jpeg

I bought the same universal ADD can off eBay for my truck for $85. There are generic copies of the Mishimoto cans that are better and cheaper that I now use on my truck.

I also left a very honest, but mostly negative account of my experience installing the ADD dual inlet system on K8 and they screened it out. I submitted twice thinking there was a glitch before realizing they only allow the 4 and 5 star ratings to post which is why those reviews seem so stellar compared to the community view.

All the extra work to fit the ADD dual inlet to a Injen makes it even less of a value. The other OCCs mate up to the Injen without anything extra.

I might just order a set of Tork cans.

Interesting, I wasn’t aware Tork had a system. I know people are very happy with the BMS as well. I’m not sure how that kit functions though.

Yeah their cans are more of a stealth set, from what I can tell. They are local to me so I might just swing over and see if they can show me a set on the shop car.
