• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Access to "engineering mode"

This is an amazing find! :D To clarify for others the time password needs to be entered as 24hr time too.

I'm parked inside at the moment so couldn't run the engine. I got the first Engineering Menu screen, all apps, but the Engineering mode app didn't do anything. Same deal for Android Settings - nothing - and there was no blue settings icon under all apps.

I really hope the annoying door-open chime can be disabled.

What is ADP Connect?

I noticed the EV app is pre-installed too. :p

(I'm a new 2019 built vehicle too - not sure if something has changed - but will be re-testing this tomorrow with the engine running tomorrow)

OK so I found the Android Settings. Under 'All Applications' there was an app (autotool?) that appears to have enabled it. Running the app added an ON/X button overlay to the bottom-right corner of the screen.

There was also two Engineering Mode app icons within 'All Applications'. One app did nothing; the other had the full UI like @mitchyboy photos.

Lots of debugging values buried in there -bluetooth, GPS, traffic reception, DAB reception info, HK Amp status. Interesting from an engineering perspective; but no actual use unless you're an engineer :p . Also options for taking screen captures, viewing logs to USB - again only really useful if you're programming an Android App for this thing.

Also appears to be an options to change the interface in to EV/PHEV mode - no doubt this same software is loaded on to different models.

Now for the somewhat useful settings:
- Audio volume (gain) adjustments between audio inputs, including Satnav voiceovers, Siri etc
- Looks like there is the ability to change the DAB radio buffer/timing - faster channel change - but lower reception tolerance then. :p
- maybe Traffic update timing

As for loading Android Apps; maybe possible - not sure if the OS is read-only or not yet - but needing to 'break out' of the factory UI is a total pain; along with no Internet access pretty much makes it a waste of time. That said, I do wonder if a USB Ethernet adapter would work :D

EDIt: And finally; the bloody door chimer - no setting - it's probably more of a BCM function than MultiMedia though. (And those BCM options are all via the Gauge Cluster screen.)

I want to find a way to turn off traffic alerts like speed camera / red light camera / school zone etc. The option in the usual manual only turn off the alerts when Sat Nav is giving route guidance, not when I am driving.

I've played with this mode for a little bit, doesn't seem like much you can do honestly. Either you can't get into the menu you are wanting, or it's a booby trap and you have to reset the AVN and it's all in Korean.

Since the latest SatNav update; the original screen-saver method no longer works.

However the new process seems to be:
1) Go to Settings > Version
2) Tap 4 times on the Map text THEN tap the actual map version number. (Sequence also works against the firmware text & version number)
3) The PIN prompt then appears and now I now have no idea what it is. :(

1111 as seen on other Kia/Hyundai forums doesn't work (which tipped me off to this process)
0000, 1234, time in 12 & 24hr, date ddmm, mmdd, mmyy, same with the update date in similar fashion are all no go.

I've updated my previous post with the corrected tap sequence. This Russian forum post has some very interesting info, including the source code for processing this logic.

No idea where that source code came from but it does look a bit sloppy in the way it's actually written IMO. (eg using Break statements vs if/else conditions.)

I don't think there's a Wi-Fi chip in it.

Not tried with adding a compatible USB Wi-Fi adapter though.

My car has Wi-Fi. I set it up to connect to my home internet in an attempt to have the head unit DL it's own update. That didn't work but the US Harmon Karon models Definitely have Wi-Fi.

The Australian ones don’t as far as I know. Just another feature they added to some markets and not others

There's no wifi on my 2019 GT2.

Just checked. Mine is in settings /Wi-Fi. Right on the first page. So I doubt you could miss it.

I found a couple of settings for reverse camera calibration, but they didn't actually have an act as far as I can tell, but probably requires some other secret commands while the camera is operating

Camera calibration requires physical board to be hold in front of it. (Based on computer vision course I did). I think in your case calibration would have failed and not saved anything.

No such option on mine. I went out and checked before posting.

Where is the sad face button as opposed to "like", "agree", etc...

Sorry to hear that. It does not do anything for me at this point anyway, but to the lost potential...

I have it too. Maybe its something they discontinued after 2018 model year.

But isn't the purpose of it to allow you to set up a hotspot and have all passengers connect to the car's wifi and use one phone's data?

So your normal (non-engineering) UI has Wi-Fi connection settings?

My US 2019 GT2 does not have that Wifi option
