I just discovered by pulling gear selector to the sport mode, aka option to shift gears manually. This option enables to keep selected gears via stirring wheel, thus no stupid override from KIA.

Tell me more.

I guess what everyone else is trying to say is that this is a well know thing that Stinger without shift by wire (with T shaped shifter) have a way to move the shifter to a manual shifting zone which then behave like most cars. On the other hand the shift by wire Stingers need to be in sport mode so that the stinger do not autoshift (there is no manual only zone) but even that if the car do a full stop it will still revert back to auto mode so no 100% manual mode exist...

Welcome to the forum. You dove right into "it" without fear. I admire that. Yes, the GT2 in Sport will stay in "manual" when you use the paddle shifters; until you come to a stop, then you need to pull on the right paddle to reengage the manual shifting mode. We had this discussion months ago; and the question was why does the GT2 always revert back to "D"? Then somebody (long before you reinvented it :D) discovered that Sport would retain the manual mode, i.e. keep the gear you're in displayed. As @Jayphil mentioned, the "T" shifter (GT1) has manual gate and you never leave manual mode until you push the shifter to the right, out of manual gate. I didn't even "discover" this until I had c. 4K miles!

So you're saying there's some connection between the stirring wheel and the gerbox?

(Okay, okay, enough bashing the new guy. ;) )

welcome lol

Hello from Europe. There is no way this cars stays in manual. It will always revert to D. No need to come to a full stop. It can do it in the middle of a turn.... Or when you are about to overtake. It may stay in "manual override" for some time, if you keep shifting frequently, but as soon as you stay in the same gear too long (at whatever rpm)... bang: an upshift from you loving Auto. Or maybe a downshift, if you are in Spot mode. Great great car. Soon for sale because of this feature.

If the car is in Sport or Sport+ it will not switch back to Auto unless you come to a stop.
If it's in Confort, Eco or Smart it will switch back to Auto after a short while.
This is my experience with the EU spec gearbox.
