a way to override KIA's gerbox

I do not like the guest posting feature it is like permission to troll anonymously.

I can agree that (at least in EU Spec Stinger 2018) there is no way to not have a manual override. It does not matter if you are in Smart, Eco, Comfort, Sport or Sport+ Mode. If you gently hit the gas pedal for 10ish Seconds it will revert back to D.
This really is one of the only points that i really don't like about the car.

the manual for EU as well as US, when i look say it won't go back to automatic mode if you are in sport/sport+ mode.. it will still go into auto if you go below 7kph though (it does have the caveat, that only on petrol models so i'm assuming on diesels, it will always go back to auto if you are gently driving) . I have the non electric shifter so i have a manual gate of course, but even if i'm not in the manual gate, and in sport mode and use the paddles it never goes back to auto unless i come to a stop(below 4mph.)

hmm, not for me though. I have a EU Spec electric shifter model. if im in sport or sport+ and use the paddles it will stay in my selected gear but if i dont change gear within 10 seconds and stay slightly on the gas it will revert to D. only will not revert if i keep changing gears or accelerating heavily or if im of the gas pedal.

that's odd if you are not diesel... and i've not heard of some places getting different programing for that but i dont' know lol

Same for this '18 USDM GT2.

I have the 2.0 EU spec and can confirm it does not revert into D if I am in sport / sport+.
Mine is 2019 with electric shifter.
It does however keep suggesting the most economic gear I should be in (instead of actually showing my current gear) even in Sport+

interesting differences. in the usa only the top trim gt2 comes with the 'shift by wire' knob. and we have no 'most economic gear' nanny. as per the above rehash contributed to this thread by @Kazz, there is no consensus that I have seen that being in sport mode in a gt2 - shift by wire - stays in the displayed gear until you stop. some say yes, others, like @Kazz, say no, it reverts back to 'D' if you don't keep shifting or using the gas enough.

the manual states that even the electronic shifter will not go back to "d" if it's in sport ( or sport+ in countries that have it) however, I've seen youtubers and some posts say on early 2018 models, some did have "issues" where they did not stay in manual even in sport.

In the EU you could basically get the top trim with the 2.0 engine. It was called a GT-Line and could have absolutely everything from the 3.3, including the LSD. But this GT-Line was dropped with the '21 facelift.
The face lifted Stinger was only available with the 3.3 engine in the EU. No 2.5 over here.

I can force my 2022 GT2 (US Spec) car to hold gears when I turn off both TSC and Stability Control (i.e. hold down the button for 5 seconds or so until it beeps). The car will hold gears indefinitely until I come to a complete stop. Then the car defaults back to 'D'
