I know people who commute is longer, i guess it seems pretty normal?

100 miles a day, 6-7 days a week here.

I'm voting yes, but only because I'm used to a 16 mile trip in rush hour taking about 45 minutes or more.

My commute was c. 12 miles each way for 29 years. Thirty miles would seem like a lot compared to that. But if the job made it worth the drive I'd not consider the commute excessive (I did not like my job most of the time). Also, consider the conveyance: the Stinger is a great car to relax in, and just being in it is fun; that would help any commute.

Paying well? If minimum f it lol

If it's all highway in light traffic, then it won't seem like much. I do 34 miles round trip each day commuting in Vegas, and even with the couple bottleneck interchanges I'm almost always to/from in 30 minutes or less. Similar for back East, except weather would sometimes conspire to make the 20 minute, 20 mile commute 60+ minutes.

And of course pay. I was offered a 'promotion' years ago, but it would have required me commuting 100 miles round trip (about 45 minutes each way, mostly highway but weather would potentially double that) for a nominal pay raise. And more responsibility. Hurray? No, f%^& that I went elsewhere. lol

I did 70 miles a day, each way 5 days a week for 18 months with about half of it in traffic, sometimes heavy. Spent the previous 4 years doing 40 miles each way with the last 10 in traffic. It's wearing, and I found myself hating driving and getting close to hating a job that I really do love. I ended up moving so I now have an 8-mile commute with almost no traffic.

I do 60 miles twice a week and hate it because of the traffic. If there was no traffic, I'd feel better about it. I'm trying to move closer to work in the next year or two.

I am retired now, but when I was working, I drove 18 miles a day to and from work. Depending on how many red lights I had, it took 15 to 20 minutes one way. It did take longer if there was an accident.

so a 10k raise, would that make it worth it to you guys? it will be all interstate, kinda heavy traffic, and maybe a few snows in the winter, rush hour gets pretty busy i think...

i really just wish i could work from home.
and thanks for everyones input and being cool about it. i appreciate you guys.

If stinger is your DD. Id just buy a beater to commute to work for those miles imo

plus, ill definitely be going over my mileage allowance since im leasing. i wonder if kia finance would work something out with me.

other thing is, my current supervisor wants me gone. took me up to hr and made up some lies. i didnt sign it and the hr lady said she was going to shred the writeup after she saw that he was making up lies.
the environment is mentally terrible.

In this case, I would take that raise and make the trip. Hope Kia can work out the kinks on the milage.

no it's not long if it's mostly highway miles with minimal traffic... i'd go more with how long it takes. I now WFH but before my 6 mile commute would take around an hour... if it was 30 miles one way and took 45 min-50 min i'd prefer that to 6 miles in an hour... lol.

I my commute was only 6 miles and it took an hour, I'd be looking for another means to get there.

oof, then yea, that's more to consider.. and it's not a great work env.... I'd be looking to change jobs..

yep... except no other options from where i was living... also, tn, really no other means of getting there... barely any sidewalks, no bike lanes, no real public transport to speak of... not even other road options lol.. Now i'm about 14 miles from the office IF i have to go in it still only takes me about 50 min since i can come in a different direction.
