5 things I Love About my Stinger GT

Expense of this car is the reason I went with a 4 year lease - warranty and maintenance is not out of my pocket. Canada includes free scheduled maintenance for 4 years, so the only expenses I should incur is consumables like tires, brake pads, etc. I don't plan on keeping the car beyond 4 years, and after this car, not sure what the plan is for the next one anyway.

If I wanted something "guaranteed" reliable, I would have gotten something Japanese, but funny enough the only Japanese sports car that interests me right now within the same price range is pretty much what I bought anyways...the Toyota Supra lol. My car has the same engine and transmission, it's just on a different chassis, and most of the parts inside the Supra are clearly from BMW anyway lol. Maybe it was just meant to be.

I truly understand the reliance on Japanese....they do make solid cars.....however I just got 160k from my 2011 Optima with absolutely no issues hence building my confidence in the brand .....and in the past 10yrs( yes nowhere near the 40-45yrs the Japanese have enjoyed) but you gotta start somewhere......the few Japanese models that even competed, didn't complete the checklist: ES 350 f sport (fwd ) gs series (bland) Accord(nah) TLX (close) .....but not many others.....used LFA ? Now you talkin! Lol

I actually don't have much issue with reliability on Hyundai/Kia/Genesis. All things considered, I don't recall anything "broken" on my Stinger or rendering it out of service over 18 months. My wife has a 7 year old Santa Fe (bought new) and it's been reliable enough with only a few little issues. I also had a Kia Sportage, it was a generally good vehicle too, just not an exciting vehicle at all. The Stinger had to go though, it didn't inspire that excitement I get from cars, I didn't love the build quality on mine and it had little issues, the dealers were rather useless for fixing anything of that sort, and it being in an accident was pretty much the last straw, the love was long gone.

What I wanted right now was a coupe, and that has been a void in the Korean line up since the Genesis coupe went away. I think only real car nerds will understand why someone would want a coupe so badly, it's the little things like the truly driver centric focus (small back seats make the front seats seem more substantial), the styling, and for me, the ability to have the windows wide open in summer and not getting blasted by wind hitting the B pillar and smashing into me ear, that really irks me about all 4 door cars.

If Genesis had a coupe, that would have been a serious contender for my money. The G70 is OK, but chop 2 doors off, I think that would have been very appealing, especially if priced right in line with the G70, although most manufactured add a 10K premium, "two-door tax." See Infiniti as an example, lol.

Right now , I'm only a fan of the BIG coupe....E400/450 fits my eye perfectly for practical purposes.....the B pillarless action is top notch and the magical interior....yum

I just fear German used in particular.

It is 100% opinion and perspective. Who's to say that most Stinger owners couldn't get by with a cheaper alternative, or to those with a GT, couldn't have bought a base trim for substantially less? Do we NEED a 360 degree camera? Blind spot monitoring, 365HP? Probably not, but we were willing to pay for it.

I was stuck in a dilemma of wanting something equally fast or faster than the Stinger, smaller, a coupe preferably with a sunroof, with AWD, and entertaining to drive. German has never in my life been a first choice option, but in this exact moment, nothing fit the criteria better at the price point. Again, I'll still never argue that the car does seem expensive for its size and features, but I was willing to pay a premium to find something that met my criteria for fit, form and function. If a Japanese brand offered a car at the same price point, similar size, same performance (other than the Supra), I would have gone Japanese all day. Sometimes you have to pay extra for what you want because there isn't anything you want more.

Everything is relative! lol.
I so much agree with you. Life is short and you are dead for a long, long time. Get what you want when you want it without being stupid in the process. Of coarse German cars are a bad financial decision when you look at it as only pure dollars spent.
But...….dollars aside, on a whole, they are the quickest, fastest, best performing, highest technology, most luxurious vehicles on the road. I recently caved in and now have a new 2020 Benz GLE 450 AWD in line six turbo 362 Hp, 369 Lb Ft torque.
0-60 in 5.5 seconds SUV on my shopping list to park next to my Stinger GT2. I know it is a bad financial decision but, a beautiful bad financial decision.

My 84,000 USD Porsche Cayman is not much faster or quicker, not much more luxurious and does not even have seat ventilation compared to my 46,000 USD Stinger GT2.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

That isn't necessarily so. What is consciousness? What is doing the thinking? This life is short, but Existence In The First Place? We are part of that. Metaphysical answers are not exactly forthcoming all around us on this ball of mud, are they? There might be as many answers as people (and infinitely more throughout the Cosmos/Multiverse).

Same situation with my BMW, lost some features, also gained a few others. I'm still happy with how much more fun and "sporty" it is. The inline 6 sound is worth a small premium I paid, IMO. I didn't find the Stinger V6 very nice sounding.

And like me you still browse the Stinger forum because all of the BMW forums suck in comparison!

No, I won't go on the BMW forums to begin with because I have a problem where I go browsing the "issues" section, learn of problems, become hypersensitive, and then start to hate my car. I'm staying off the forums this time lol.

The Kia folks here are probably a bit more humble though, because it's "just a Kia" lol.

My wife actually picks at the stock sound....lol
I'm looking into MBRP exhaust as an upgrade

we're still waiting for our GLE 450, our lease has been up since December and we put our order in back in August. It's a really good SUV, big improvement over our current GLE 350.

I can't win with my wife and exhaust. When the Mustang was stock, it wasn't loud at all (everyone with a 6th Gen 15-17 GT concurs), yet she said it was loud in the morning. Then she called the Stinger loud too, and it is NOT. I got my M240i with the M Performance Exhaust which is louder than stock and quite a bit louder than the Stinger was on cold start, it took her 3 weeks to comment on it! lol.

There is a cammed Stang on our block that would like to demonstrate it's ear bleed ability to your wife. Lol.
- Currently single and thinking about Borla with catless mid pipes.

Have you thought (without her input of course, lol ) of changing to your preferred sound? I've heard locally some older IS250/300's that have a very nice note....NA V6's I believe
