3.3T Turbo Oil Feed Line Recall 2024

There are 2 lines - low and full.
This is low.

Somewhere in between these lines, when cold, is good..

You should be able to see the level easily. Unless your reservoir is extremely dirty.

If you can't see it, it's probably low.

This is empty!

I opened the garage door and got a flashlight and could see at the bottom its up the low level like your picture

Many owners report their coolant level in the reservoir going down after several heat cycles, after the oil feed pipe recall, due to an incomplete air bleed procedure.

I would keep an eye on your coolant level for at least a few heat cycles.

I checked mine cold this morning (morning after getting car back yesterday). The coolant level is above the high line but under the "OK" marker - is that okay?Stinger Coolant Level.webp

It is OK for sure.

But there is no OK line. The OK stamp has nothing to do with any line.

There are only 2 lines on the reservoir
L - low
F - full

Being slightly over full in my opinion is perfectly fine.

I just drove back about 60 miles in 93 degrees and checked it when i turned off the motor and its still on low, is that normal or should it expand when it gets hot?

Sorry for so many questions, I appreciate the help!

Get a vacuum canister and suck the oil out the dipstick tube. Only one fastener needs to be removed to change the filter under the engine.
I wouldnt do that. pull the plug, walk away and give it 30 mins. Youll get 95% of the oil, and you will also get an idea if there is sludge at the very bottom of the pan. If you suck it out, itll be guessing game if you got the very lowest part of the pan and further more if you actually got to the bottom of the pan. All in all, its not a good way to drain the vehicle of oil. Quick lube shops do this because its fast, but not efficient.

Wait overnight for it to cool, and when you check it in the morning, it will probably be below the low mark.

Not surprising that Kia would not have done a correct and complete air bleed procedure.

exactly. All the coolant needs to come out of the passages and cool off. Let it sit overnight and check in morning.

Going to call Monday to set up an appointment for my recall. They said I have a brake booster recall to do to. I asked if they could inspect the coils since my radio pops/cuts out still too. He said he'll have to look and let Kia decide if they are corroded. I pulled a couple of the easy ones and didn't see any corrosion.

Anyhow, my dealer says they've done a lot of oil line recalls. Weird, since town is about 50k people and I've seen maybe 2 other Stingers in town.

Says recall will be 4 hours and 1 more hour for the brake booster. Not terrible. I hope to drop it off one evening and hopefully they will be able to get to it the next day as it has to be cooled off.

Fingers crossed.

I just checked and line is below the low line. so if the low line was 2 inches up, its about 1 inch below. So is that too low or just keep an eye on it?

thanks.

I would just keep an eye on it if you don’t want to deal with the dealer. It isn’t very hard to replace regardless.

It's below minimum - I would refill (or get the dealer to fix it correctly).

If it goes empty, you will be drawing air into the cooling system each time the engine cools down (typically when parked overnight)

This isn’t accurate and has been disproven. I’ve been using an extractor for years and it pulls as much or more oil than the drain plug. You know exactly how much it pulls out because it’s marked on the canister.

They work exceptionally well on vehicles that have a filter that is accessible under the hood. On the Stinger it’s still much cleaner as all you need to do is open the filter access hole.

can any green prestone work or it needs to be pink from the delear and do i add to the reservour or add to the radiator if its low there?

Always add to the expansion reservoir when cold. I have green coolant and use the green Prestone. I know they sell a pink one too.

I just drove it out to go shopping and went by advanced auto parts and got some Peak Original equipment Pink coolant for Genisis,Kia, etc that is already mixed.

so its at low while hot, so will wait till it cools and then add up to between low and full or should do all the way to full? ANd keep and eye on it for a while.

thanks again for your time and help, I really appreciate it

If it's low while HOT, i'd add fluid to the res asap to full. When it cools down, open the radiator and make sure level is all the way to the top. Top off each as needed at that point.

Edit: I keep my level at F(ull) when cold.

Dropped mine off at 7:30 this morning, and they just told me it's going to carry over into tomorrow. But of course earlier today they texted me asking if I wanted $800 worth of other services. Ugh.

$800 off labor you pay parts lol
