Naive question - does the work for this recall (replacing a pipe) require an oil change? I'm due for an oil change soon and was wondering if I could get a freebie w/ this recall work.
I don't know if they dropped the motor, but I doubt it. My car is not modded at all and I go very easy on it, no hard accelerations or breaking. I drive it less than 10k per year.
Yup. This is where my heads at. Ugh, I have no experience with the o my dealer where I live (east texas). I’ve done all my own work on the car since I purchased it. I’m so hesitant to let anyone touch it! Mine purrs like a kitten

I'm gong to wait on this as mine is a 2023 GT2 I got from my local dealer exactly a year ago. No recalls on kia connect app or in the mail yet. I will have to verify they will not drop the motor to do this. That is a red flag to me if they need to. I don't want some newbie tech work on my car coming back missing pieces all over and having new set of problems. That's one nightmare I'd like to avoid at all cost.
Mine is currently getting done. Lucky me was the #1 recall scheduled at this shop but they had to keep it longer than a day said it’s taking longer than expected. He said they were following the SB which does not have them drop the engine but they ended up doing that and will going forward because it makes more sense. Said they took it slow and learned a lot from working on mine and they’re not rushing to get it back to me. Hope being a guinea pig works out.

Quoted, and a good point to take note of to be weary of dealership incompetence. My question of this whole "engine drop" who is saying this to y'all that it keeps getting brought up? The service tech in the drive up or the actual certified mechanic? The service tech is an advisor not a mechanic and if the mechanic says it they don't want to do it or don't have the grit to perform the task. Thats my opinion on that who bring up for anyone not familiar with dealer mechanic BS.
BTW I just got the recall and I'm waiting for more reviews and maybe some dealers to let us owners actually be present to take pics and be involved as some people have heavily modded stingers and ain't leaving our car in valet mode for no 3 days lol. It's a clear issue that all of us are concerned about taking our cars in to have work done and too many possibilities for shabby errors to occur and be told it wasn't me..

I have a Kia Soul as a loaner, so suffice to say my dealer needed more than a day.
They were estimating 15 hours total when I last talked to them. No mention of engine being dropped.
It seems they haven't done many recalls yet so they are taking their time on mine. It is expected though as there isn't many Stingers in the wild. "Luxury automaker Genesis is recalling 2,943 copies of its three sedan models in Canada; while Kia is recalling 5,526 versions of its Stinger"
