Hey guys I’m a salesman at Car Pros Kia HB and a stinger driver/enthusiast too. The new 2022 models are coming out way earlier than I expected..... next month March 2021!!! The first model we’re getting is coming in the 6th, the newly colored ascot green GT2. I’ll attach the window sticker so you can see the exact specs. From what I can see now, they’re probably killing the 2.0 GT-line and the bast GT model. The new lineup will be the 2.5 GT-Line and the 3.3 GT1 and GT2. Some of the main new features are going to be the bigger main screen, a full led tail light, 9 more HP due to the new variable exhaust (I think it’s a physically controlled exhaust, not the speaker sound one but a real ass exhaust that you can open and close to increase sound), quilted seats, a CARBON FIBER EXTERIOR PACKAGE, three rim options, new headlights, more LED lights in the cabin, and a electronically controlled suspension. The MSRP for the GT1 and 2 are going to be about 3,000$ more than the 2021 models but for what you get it seems worth it. I’ll update with a video when the first one comes but feel free to ask about anything stinger related here!!! I’m happy to give you any info you want :)

That Ascot Green looks interesting. I wonder if it comes in all three trims. Welcome to the forum, by the way. :D

Thanks! And I’m excited for the green too, I would assume the ascot green will be like a matt Aruba Green on the new Sorento. Just like ceramic silver it’s probably only going to be on the top GT models

Looks like they merged some of the 2021 GT and GT1 packages, and did some heavy juggling with some of the other key options. Now you have to go GT2 for the HK stereo, vented front seats and electric suspension, for example. But you get adaptive cruise and front collision with the GT/GT1 'standard'. To me it looks like they're pushing buyers into the GT2, and offering the GT1 as a consolation prize for those unable/unwilling to spend the extra $$$. The couple upgrades for the 2022 GT/GT1 might not add up to $4100 more if that ends up being the increase over 2021's GT pricing.

Is the LSD gone?

Main upgrades IMO for both models is remote start and 10.5" touchscreen infotainment, both options coming with the 2022 GT/GT1. [without first hearing the variable exhaust valve, this may or may not be a drastic improvement, so really can't say if this is a worth while upgrade yet]

The 2.5T is going to be a good match for the car, and offer a viable alternative for many cost conscious buyers who may have been looking at or financially forced into pursuing the 3.3TT GT trim. I wanted the 3.3TT with few frills, so by pure luck I got in at just the right time and price.

Unsure if this restructuring of the models is going to help or hurt your sales. Most car people are looking for the 3.3TT drivetrain, so setting the bar higher financially isn't likely going to draw more of them in (not with the couple minor upgrades listed). Raising the price on a 'struggling' model isn't typically a recipe for sales success. I guess only time will tell.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Guess I'm glad I got a 2020 awd gt when I did then. Had a budget I had to stay within, which is the reason I had to go with a gt and not a gt1. If I was buying it this year (new at least) I'd be forced out of a new Stinger and I'd probably be driving the more pedestrian Wrx.

I didnt see Blind View Monitor. Maybe its standard on the GT1 and so isnt listed?
I think they’re replacing the lane keep assist on the base trims with blind spot monitoring on all trims, they’ve done that on almost all new models like the Sorento and Telluride. Just like other models as well, standard front camera and adaptive cruise control are added to make safety features a selling point for for the lineup.

Also other have mentionned that for NA it might be the diamond quilted seats but from your description it seams the Chain design which would be the same as European / Austrilla seats and not the korean seats.

If that is the case it make me happy since I prefer those new seats for the sporty look which fits the best the Stinger.

Do you have any details on what will be included with the 2.5T model? Or what packages there will be?
Thanks! Looking forward to this car

Your definitely right about that, the base GT model made up of a large basis of buyers who wanted the power without having to pay for all the bells and whistles. From what I’ve seen in just the last few months with other Kia models, because of the K5’s introduction of the GT engine, there won’t be a need for the 2.0 GT-line Anymore. But because of the lackluster differences between the GT1 and GT2 models as they were before (most buyers going either way due to available stock) the new GT1 will probably add some safety features and loose some of the keynote “top of the line” features to make the GT2 stand out. I don’t really understand them dropping the base GT myself but if I had to guess, it would be that they wanted the base 3.3 to be in a higher class hosting features that would appeal to the “new Kia” as I call it, (bigger screens, more safety, and engine/feature upgrades) and those features made the difference between the GT and the GT1 too small. I’m basing this info off of the ordering page for Kia dealers, seeing what we can get and what we can’t get, so they might add one in the future but as far as 2022 goes this is what we have for the year.

I believe KIA is making this move of more safety feature standard to make sure the Stinger is a Top Safety Pick or Safety Pick+ for all trims. The cost is transfered to us so this is why there is no cheap GT anymore and GT1 is the new GT with all the Safety features.

Right now if you go to IIHS you can see: 2020 TOP SFETY PICK : 2020 Kia Stinger Award applies only to vehicles with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights

Current GT-Line / 2.0T with projector headlight was rated as poor...
Any Stinger without advanced Safety Feature cannot be Top Safety Pick (GT-Line / Base GT 3.3)

I’m talking about the camera in the dash when you turn in the blinker.

I could be wrong but I believe if it has surround view camera it will have blind view camera also since it uses those cameras for the turn signal video feed.

I assume that also, GT2 should have it. New GT Elite in Canada which is similar to GT2 will have it.
New GT Limited in Canada (Similar to new GT1) will not have 360 thus not have the blind view.

I see what you’re talking about they are only keeping that feature for the models with the larger 7 inch tachometer screen. The lower trims like the 2.5 will have the new screen that’s featured in the K5, larger then the old screen but smaller than the one in the GT‘s. I’ll add a photo for reference. (It’s color too)

Not yet, I think they’re going to be released about 6 months from now, probably the same time the GT K5 will be released. Since they have the same engine both will probably come out at the same time.

hopefully sooner since the GT K5 is configurable on the website.

That’s true, but with Kia becoming a more established brand the stinger will get more of a spotlight in its segment. The GT1 pricing is sticking closer to the old GT1 MSRP than the base GT unfortunately, even with the dropped sound system and such. Kia probably wants to place the base Stinger at another level to place the whole line in a higher category. Even with the raised prices, it’s still a deal compared to the competing German brands. I’ll post the window sticker here as well for reference.
