There are many perspectives on this topic clearly. I am speaking as a 50yr old husband and father of two teenagers of driving age. I have taken my kids to an empty parking lot with no poles and allowed both of my kids to do a launch control, so they understand that a car like this needs to be respected and driven very carefully. They have also seen many instances where crazy drivers want to race, and I have made it very clear the dangers and costs of engaging in this behavior.

Have people respect the beauty of the car and the driver for being responsible. I take my car to the track to really test its potential in a safe and legal controlled environment. It is an amazing car that is an absolute blast to drive especially when you know you are breaking no laws while doing so

Let’s be the group that is respected for good taste, because all Stingers look AWESOME, and respected for having good driving behavior on the roads!!

ya, it's not legal, i get it. and there are race track around to go for the day/evening and do 1/4 mile runs, of which I didn't get out to one since I got the stinger a year ago.. I will go 100% this year, if the commi gov. allows us to leave our houses...
anyways, legal or not, as long as it's not the weaving in and out of traffic like idiots, and it's open space for few seconds here and there, well, what the heck.. boys will be boys....
Accidents can happen. Hope anyone having a little fun uses best judgement on the time and place and is respectful the surroundings.
I haven't had much chances come my way... the other night a tuned 4 dr civic, older model pulled up behind me and followed me for a bit.. maybe trying to figure out what a stinger is ? What my plate was saying ??
then he went to my left and past me with a decent push.. must be very tuned.... so it's highway in less traffic area and I pulled up to him when he just settled to coasting, nodded at him and he kicked it. I didn't need to, but switched to sport (losing 2 seconds from him kicking), I dropped the stinger hammer and Walked him.. Not the proudest moment to brag about, as it's not a competitor to the Stinger, but I hope he enjoyed some popcorn as he learned what a Stinger is. ... and yes, I live in Canada, but this happened on a back road hwy in Mexico.

An experienced driver knows when it's safe and when its not. Some still choose to behave poorly (unsafe), most do not (thankfully). I don't see anything in here blatantly unsafe. Knowing the local roads and when to have some fun is exactly the benefit of knowing the local roads. I've always found stretches of road close to home to have some fun where only the hand of god literally smiting me from the earth would be my demise. That's the experience and knowledge part of being a driver. For every blind corner I approach near home and slow down (even when the signage doesn't require it), I find an open stretch of road with perfect visibility to let things fly.

Ethics and etiquette are more nuanced than Adam's (understandable) objections.

Some street racing videos literally make me cringe, but open roads with no intersections/residential areas to me sounds the more sensible thing. Regardless, I don't think v8's are going to be around much more with how the politics is headed and our environmental movements so sad to say we're talking soon to be history.

Considering the immediate power available with electric engines and the impending severe reduction/depletion of the non-renewable oil reserves (once they're gone, they're gone), it would seem that it's a common sense trend anyway. So no reason to cry over it. Plus electric cars can be recharged in a number of environmentally neutral ways, including direct from electricity harvested from solar and wind.

The one caveat are some advances in science related to alternative fuel sources like algae-to-oil that can be used in existing combustion engines. Because we really can't make electric vehicles fast enough to replace all the fuel driven cars and trucks, this idea IMO has some legs especially as they refine the process and derive increasingly more from these farms:

The biggest factor in this is WHEN most of the charging will be occurring, which is mostly during the evenings and overnights when solar and wind are at their least productive. Right now coal, nuclear, and natural gas power plants pickup the slack during those times. The issue long term is storing excess power collected during the day for overnight use. There's battery technology in development that will make capacity at the levels needed to scale this to city-level power capabilities, but we're still years from that.

Also, most vehicles get topped off at night, not fully recharged from zero, so the hit isn't quite as much but will still be a factor. The other good news is that the next gen batteries for vehicles are going to hold as much power in less volume/weight, and also charge faster, and discharge/provide power even more efficiently. All natural refinement of the technology. These efficiencies further offset the 'drain' on the grid, since they'll need less power from the wall socket to go XX miles. They also use less lithium and other rare earth metals, making them more earth friendly. [mining for rare metals is very toxic and sloppy]

There's no doubt electrification is going to be a huge player in the years to come, but exactly which technology will end up pushing it into mainstream/mass adoption remains to be seen. All the tech currently in development is extremely promising though, so it might not be much longer.

So, on the hwy today (somewhere in Mexico), a Mustang GT passed me with a really nice muffler sound.
I'm jealous of Stang's sound.
So I pull up I catch up and pull up and coast next to him. We are way below speed limit for some odd reason.

I give it some juice and let go.. and then He goes strong and passess me and I kick it and catch up, and keep up with him.
This happened a few times.... I don't know if he went full throttle or not ? I can only assume he did, as that what's suppose to be the thing to do. We never did line up and go on three honk or anything to see exactly who pulled on who, but on these few runs, I believe he took the lead, jump and I stayed with him and he never pulled away... I may have even caught up a bit on him as we were even before we both eased off.
Oddly, we never broke the speed limit by more than 10kph

So, to sum up, WOW, even at just under hwy speeds, I ran along a Stang GT.. Oh, from the front, it looked like at least a 2016 or newer model. And his rear bumper had some extra red lights on the bottom of it. Likely modified add on lights... it was night so couldn't see the bumper shape. entire rear bumper may have been a mod.

Oh, before we said good bye, we opened our windows... I told him I love the muffler sound.. Awesome.. and he gave me thumbs and said, I love your plate... He did get to see the back on a time that I pushed first.

Wish we did a side by side 123 go run...

I'm stock with only K & N filters. Just the filters.. I don't like those larger air filter types. I believe just changing the filters is better than those large things. Even with the heat shields, I suspect they can stull suck in some warm air from the engine. Only filter swaps, only get direct air pushed thru them from the outside...
Someone mentioned to me that the better air flow from the K & N will be more effective at higher speeds, and may be that's why I had good pull at hwy speeds with a Pony GT ?

I have a significantly higher chance of being in a car accident from being hit by someone under the influence of alcohol/drugs, someone eating/drinking, someone changing the radio, someone talking on the phone, someone putting on makeup, someone with improper tires on their vehicle, or someone with children/pets in the car...

If people actually gave a crap about safety they would remove radios and ban food, makeup, pets, and children from cars plus require you to put your cellphone in a locked box... every vehicle would have a tool/system to confirm the driver is sober... lmfao

I don't think "it's cool" or "right" to street race and weave in and out of traffic, but, giving the car some kick or going full speed open throttle on an empty road is fine...

This was clearly a race in "Mexico" and everyone is okay... Don't get me wrong I have seen some pretty reckless and stupid street racing, but as the saying goes, there is always a time and a place.

I have had races with multiple Challengers anywhere from the AWD V6 to the Hellcats... the broad range of performance is always interesting to see first hand... I am surprised you wiped the 2018 6.4L Challenger so easily though...

Mustang are a beautiful car. Thats what I traded in for my stinger, a 2018 coyote. That being said stock for stock toss up between the cars from a dig. Actually the stinger might stay in front through the 1/8. The difference would be the 1/4, the mustang would over power on the back end.

I would say the first race set the tone. He more than likely underestimated the stinger and tried to baby it out the hole. Big mistake, my stinger 60 foots like no other. The other races you trying to leave with me, and its just not going to happen. The challenger is a beautiful car, lots of torque, whats power if you not planting it. Stock scat pack vs stock gt2, he will never catch me in the 1/8th. Well I hope not

now I've discovered the E=brake trick from a youtuber, it launches even a bit better.. Can't wait to take it to the trach this spring. Never did make it out last year.
For those not familiar, from a stop, in sport mode, traction control off (stability can stay on), pull up the e-brake and hold it up, let go of the brake and put little bit push on gas pedal to about 2000 rpm... just enough so the car doesn't start to drag you... and then hit the gas and let the ebrake button go... Boom, it launches with no, or hardly any hesitation, of which our launch control sadly has.
at the track, I'm sure it'll surprise many on the reaction time and go time... it'll likely get us .25-.35 sec. faster 1/4 mile times

I got to try it. This car is a blast though. I miss my mustang but the stinger is a one stop shop. Put the family in it, get groceries, weekend cruiser and also can pin u to the seat at the drop of a dime.
