Saw a new GTS driving on 377 in Ft. Worth yesterday. Brand new dealer plates. If you're on this forum, holla!
I've had a few people when I'm parked compliment it, but not like I did when I got my first one. Then again, there was less of the Stingers around then. There are like 12 on Hill AFB that I know of, could be more.Do you also notice, what I am calling the head turning experience? I see it many times during the week. And I get asked about the Stinger GTS quite a bit. Someone told me I could be a salesman for the Stinger because of my knowledge and enthusiasm for the car.
I'm curious, (apologies if anyone else has asked this already I haven't had time to read through all the replies) when you put it into drift mode do you have to drift? Like does it make the car want to slide around more? Or does it just make it RWD and you can drift if you want to, or just drive the car like normal? Hopefully that makes sense. Either way that is a great color, congratulations! To all the haters ragging on the GTS I say, "I love this car!" So it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a GT2. I didn't pay an extra $10k for those features either. The D-AWD with Drift mode gives you the best of both worlds.
I had my question answered today by Kia which was....How do I get it into Drift mode. The mode selector doesn't say Drift Mode anywhere. Here is the answer I got for those who want to know.

Dear Rich
Thank you for contacting KIA! I have found the following information and I will paste the details:
Drift Mode is an optional feature. It comes with the D-AWD version of GTS.
Even when equipped with D-AWD, there is no indication of “drift mode” being activated in the cluster or center stack.
To activate drift mode, perform the following:
Step 1: Select Sport Mode
Step 2: Turn off traction control (hold button for about 3 seconds)
Step 3: Turn off stability control (hold button for about 3 seconds)
There is no indication in the cluster or center display that will say “drift mode”
Or, Select sport mode and press and hold the traction/stability control button for ~10 seconds.
Sincerely,
Koraima Mondragon

So you get there just like going into launch mode except you want the shifter in manual mode to lock the gear wherever you want and manually shift gears when needed.
Just my guess, but the LSD (Limited Slip Differential) and mechanical shifter are probably what makes it possible to put 100% of the traction on the rear wheels. One more thing to add that wasn't included is that in order to lock the wheels in a gear (as advertised) you would have to be in manual shift and use the paddle shifters to change gears.
I hope this helps those who also bought the GTS for the same reasons I did. It's a beautiful machine.
I haven't drifted with mine. I have driven in drift mode and it's just driving it in Sport mode as a RWD at that point. It has all the responses of Sport mode.I'm curious, (apologies if anyone else has asked this already I haven't had time to read through all the replies) when you put it into drift mode do you have to drift? That's very cool. Definitely wouldn't mind having that feature.I haven't drifted with mine. I have driven in drift mode and it's just driving it in Sport mode as a RWD at that point. It has all the responses of Sport mode.
Good eye.You have a permanent speck of black on your camera lens; it makes your car look like it has a black spot on it.
Gorgeous color!![]()
I'd say picky! Because i had to go back and look for it!Good eye.![]()
When I get another set of rims and R compound tires and the steel braided brake lines and racing brake fluid in it.Congrats. When will you be taking it to a track?
Lol. Can't help it. That shows you how much I look for flaws in my car; thankfully exceedingly few and small. A black splotch that big leaps out at me on Orange.I'd say picky! Because i had to go back and look for it!![]()
Good! You didn't want to keep throwing splotches of black "tar" on your gorgeous Orange every time you showed her off for us.Got the camera fixed. Earlier this week.
