To all the haters ragging on the GTS I say, "I love this car!" So it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a GT2. I didn't pay an extra $10k for those features either. The D-AWD with Drift mode gives you the best of both worlds.

I had my question answered today by Kia which was....How do I get it into Drift mode. The mode selector doesn't say Drift Mode anywhere. Here is the answer I got for those who want to know.
START
Dear Rich

Thank you for contacting KIA! I have found the following information and I will paste the details:

Drift Mode is an optional feature. It comes with the D-AWD version of GTS.

Even when equipped with D-AWD, there is no indication of “drift mode” being activated in the cluster or center stack.

To activate drift mode, perform the following:

Step 1: Select Sport Mode

Step 2: Turn off traction control (hold button for about 3 seconds)

Step 3: Turn off stability control (hold button for about 3 seconds)

There is no indication in the cluster or center display that will say “drift mode”

Or, Select sport mode and press and hold the traction/stability control button for ~10 seconds.

Sincerely,

Koraima Mondragon

So you get there just like going into launch mode except you want the shifter in manual mode to lock the gear wherever you want and manually shift gears when needed.

Just my guess, but the LSD and mechanical shifter are probably what makes it possible to put 100% of the traction on the rear wheels. One more thing to add that wasn't included is that in order to lock the wheels in a gear (as advertised) you would have to be in manual shift and use the paddle shifters to change gears.

I hope this helps those who also bought the GTS for the same reasons I did. It's a beautiful machine.

Congrats King Lamoni. I do really like the orange colour. Enjoy....

Congrats. Show us some photos!

You are the first GTS owner on these boards.

You should have seen the gaggle of salespeople when I took it to the dealership that I've been going to who didn't get one of these. They are all 2019 so far. I wish I knew how to find out the number out of 800 that I got.

Tomorrow I'm getting the K8Stinger Store Canbus Control Module installed in it and I am putting in the daytime running lights and installing the rear reflector LED upgrade with sequential turn signal operation. I'm also installing front and rear steel braided brake lines purchased from Khartuners and putting Motul 5.1 brake fluid in it. Later I'm getting R-compound tires and wheels for taking it to track days.

Beautiful ride King! Drive it in good health!!

You have a permanent speck of black on your camera lens; it makes your car look like it has a black spot on it.

Gorgeous color!
Astute observation!

Congrats, first on forum to buy (first forum member in the world too)!

Is it the first GTS 2019 / 2020?
Or whats so special about it?
I dont know the US branding which GTS equals to the ones we got here in europe (GT (3.3L), GT Line, GT Line Plus)

GTS is a limited edition stinger somewhere between the middle and upper level trim with special badging and some carbon fiber upgrades and Federation Orange paint. It also has what they are calling D-AWD (dynamic all wheel drive). The D-AWD let's you have both AWD And RWD in one package!

Here I've been thinking it means "Drift AWD". Hahah. That's how they advertise it; now you can drift in this car (and make Michelin happy to see you).

Very cool looking car, I wish I had the drift mode in mine. A local dealer just listed one for sale. I thought they were coming out as a 2020 model.
