• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

Btw, here's a direct link to the mapnsoft forum thread regarding this illumination issue. If it bothers you please post in there. If enough complain they may revert.

I discovered it in the garage where the light sensor wasn't picking up enough light and thought it was night time. Can't imagine the reasoning for changing it from auto/day/night like it was before. It was simple, self explanatory and worked. A solution in search of a problem.
I'm still trying to figure out the changes I made but just to be clear, are you talking about the whole display changing from night to day or just the map or both ?

My map swaps between night and day but not the rest of the display.

In the newer models (2022) the display is always night (black background) for everything other than maps. I want the map manual control back.

I see. In that case I'm no help sorry.

I just have to say this.

The other day I needed to drive across Sydney so I used Google maps to direct me to where I needed to go and it worked well.

For the return journey I decided to use the Kia ( latest maps ) to get me home.

The Kia took me a completely different way, on roads I never knew existed, and, it was faster and smoother.

I'm actually really impressed!

I prefer the Kia sat nav, but I just don’t like actually using it.

Waze for me. I actually have never used the Kia Satnav.

Four years in the Kia Sat nav is still crap. Only realised how bad when i purchased a 2021 Mustang, that Sat nav is even premptive on addresses.

How is the Mustang going? How does it compare to the Stinger?

No idea what your trying to say.

The Stinger has it all over the Mustang except in Exhaust note, stereo, seat comfort and as noted much to discomort of another the Navigation.

The Stinger gets a 9 the 'Stang a 7. Oh and the 'Stang doesn't handle as well as the Stinger which i have Eibach equipt.

If you had to choose a keeper, which would you pick.

The Stinger has everything. When you look at the inclusions for your money there's little or no competition.

plus the running costs for a Stinger (at least within Australia) are a fraction of the cost of other performance brands.

Anyone in Aus/NZ heard anything about when the new map updates will be published? Last one was May 2021 and they were meant to be 6 monthly now so expected one in November. Doesn't seem to be anything so far.

Still no update, what is going on Kia Australia?

Did get an update from Kia NZ who say that Aus/NZ has a new map supplier and they are expecting an update somewhere between March and May so fingers crossed.

I believe I read someone confirmed with Kia that updates will be once a year going forward.

 I just got a notification from this thread first in a while...

Word of advice to all waiting in Australia for the next update, it's going to take some time after the last disaster of an update.
My Stinger is back for the 3rd centre console replacement after the last update, it was beyond a disaster.
In a nutshell, the update was so bloated and buggy it has destroyed the entire audio, navigation, and centre screen functionality to the point, Kia have taken the car indefinitely until they can either fix it or replace the car.
The dealer has been very good, but this is now escalated to Kia corporate, I have no ETA on the car dropped it off today.
The dealer had to do a lot of organisation and will charge Kia corporate for the loan car, I tried to get a new corvette as they had no Kia's available got lumped with a brand new MG instead. The MG is objectively the worst car I have driven in 15 years.. Mediocrity is the new Excellence when it comes to Chinese cars.
