• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

I just did the 10in update. Added icons and names to the radio stations, and Soundhound. Not sure what else.

Hi the 10" update is available in the US but this forum section where you've posted is for 'Stingers Down Under' which is for Australia/New Zealand where the 10" update is still not currently available.

Good point, but you'll probably see the same changes to the interface, so it is still appropriate, whenever the 10" update goes to you all.

Anybody else notice the latest updates took away the speed limit hud indicator?

I am running the latest version of Kia Stinger software in a MY23 Australian delivered Stinger GT but has anyone else noticed how out of date the SATNAV locations are?
One location indicates a bank that hasn't been there for 15 years. Another indicates a school zone where the school was replaced by apartments 15 years ago.
Another does not show a school zone that has been there for 7 years......

On a positive note, I did discover an interesting feature of the nav system. Without it even being in use, it detected what it thought was me traveling the wrong way on a (formerly) one-way street and made that announcement over the audio system. Now if I can just get it to stop the possessed "you are here" cross-country treks.

I must admit I have only used a SATNAV destination feature once in 5 months as where I drive I know where I am going but I do appreciate the regular chimes on level crossings and school zones. It's a bit dumb calling it roadkill in the alerts. The sign says wildlife crossing whilst the announcement is animals crossing. Not "roadkill"? Kia should have sorted that out.

Good news, the wide screen update (10") is now available.
Did mine last night although I haven't checked out what has changed yet.

Just finished updating at my end.

it failed the first time though, saying the infotainment unit could not be updated. I wonder if that had anything to do with the screen not starting up a few days back.

For the series 1 Stingers, ( 17-20 ) has anyone done the update and notice any changes ?
Anything better or worse ?

I'm a bit cautious since the last update went from sophisticated motif to Miami Vice....
TIA

No noticeable changes in the maps but there is a clock overlay on the reversing camera now.

I’ve lost navigation sounds after update. Media sound, radio etc are all fine, but none of navigation prompts are audible. Checked the volume controls, all seem to be enabled. Anyone had such a problem?

Yes, I had the same problem in December on the EU version.
I fixed it by rewriting the SD card on another computer (with windows) with the same Nav version and then reapplying the update.

Thanks for that. I will try your solution.

Or try another SD card - they do die occasionally.
Does the nav unit work with non-oem SD cards? I simply assumed they would be locked.
With european cars you never dream of getting things like nav updates for free. An update sd card for my previous VW Passat was 100-150 EUR and you had to buy one each year to keep the car updated.

yep, any sd card with the appropriate amount of space will work.

My mega beast is a MY20 with "Standard-class Gen 5 Navigation ( 7 & 8 in. Touchscreen)".

I downloaded the update and transferred to the SD card OK, but my vehicle didn't offer to apply the update automatically - so I did it manually though the setup menu, and it said that the software version hadn't changed but it would happily reinstall if I really wanted it to, which I made it do.

The software version hasn't changed since May 2023, and I am not sure either about a Map update - and can see from the software list that our vehicle map version is now out of step with the newer models.

In my mind, if you updated in May 2023, then the December update is most likely to be no different to that.
